Position Overview:
Under the general direction of the Physical Security Supervisor, performs as a technical specialist supporting centralized security
systems and monitoring stations relating to the design, procurement, construction, commissioning and ongoing maintenance and
administration of corporate wide physical security systems. This includes responsibility over the configuration, operation,
maintenance and support of IP based security systems and will work with other departments and utilize specialized tools to ensure
the systems high availability, and NERC compliance of centralized security services.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Security System Administrator for the configuration of the Corporate Security System.
- Support the Physical Access Coordinator for the provisioning and revocation of access in multiple applications within
appropriate timelines.
- Maintain, support and provide triage for field devices and centralized services via Remedy.
- Perform analysis and investigation of system outages; root cause, reliability improvements and associated documentation.
- Determine the appropriate corrective action of system and equipment failures after reviewing cost of repairs, cost of
replacement, criticality of the facility, impact to operations, impact to protection of BES Cyber Systems, and impact to
regulatory compliance.
- Determine appropriate level of spare equipment as defined by MTBF and purchase same.
- Retain and direct vendors on scope of repairs, and receive authorizations from facility management prior to schedule repair
work.
- Conduct commissioning of security equipment installations, and approve work, or stop work, if quality controls and adherence
to standards and codes are not followed.
- Liaise with external contractors/vendors for the installation and ongoing maintenance of the Corporate Security System
software and hardware.
- Liaise and coordinate with Information Technology Services and Communications to install and configure centralized security
applications, update firmware, deploy security patches and install access control and video field devices.
- Assist in the design and implementation of all physical security systems to maintain compliance with NERC regulations.
- Monitor and assess contractor work for quality and adherence to MH standards and ensure contract terms are being fulfilled
by vendors.
- Integrate and configure remote sites into centralized servers.
- Assist in the integration of access control, video management, access management, plan management and report generation
from disparate systems.
- Assist in the inspection and documentation of security equipment functionality and service life.
- Develop and maintain professional working relationships with project teams to assist in the achievement of project
deliverables and goals, in new construction, retrofits and upgrades.
- Develop technical expertise as it relates to the physical security network, IP based security devices, communication profiles,
and configuration of physical access control panels and video surveillance devices.
- Stay abreast of industry developments impacting security systems and regulatory compliance.
