Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fiber Optic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fiber optic networks to ensure reliable high-speed communication services. This role requires technical expertise in telecommunication systems, network infrastructure, and low voltage wiring, with a focus on safety and quality standards. Responsibilities
- Install, splice, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cables and related infrastructure in various environments.
- Operate equipment such as bucket trucks, forklifts, and bucket operation tools safely to access installation sites.
- Perform electrical work related to fiber optic systems, including low voltage wiring and connections.
- Conduct inspections of network infrastructure to identify issues and perform necessary repairs or upgrades.
- Use welding techniques when required for secure cable mounting or enclosure modifications.
- Manage telecommunication equipment including telephony systems and WAN connections.
- Follow safety protocols during all phases of installation and maintenance work to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Document work performed accurately and report progress or issues to supervisors promptly.
Skills
- Proven experience with telecommunication systems, fiber optic installation, and network infrastructure.
- Familiarity with telephony systems, WAN configurations, and low voltage electrical work.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery such as bucket trucks and forklifts safely and efficiently.
- Knowledge of welding techniques relevant to cable mounting or enclosure modifications is a plus.
- Electrical experience is desirable for troubleshooting power supplies and related components.
- Strong understanding of telecommunication standards, wiring practices, and safety procedures.
- Ability to work at heights using bucket trucks or ladders while maintaining safety protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in technical tasks.
