Position Summary
The Line Cook is responsible for operating assigned kitchen stations efficiently during preparation and service while ensuring food quality, consistency, and sanitation standards are maintained at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items according to recipes and presentation standards
- Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies before service
- Maintain proper portion control and food quality standards
- Follow prep lists and complete daily mise en place
- Ensure food is prepared and served in a timely manner during busy service periods
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, equipment, and storage areas
- Properly label, date, rotate, and store food products using FIFO procedures
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, WHMIS, and workplace safety standards
- Communicate effectively with kitchen team members and management
- Assist with receiving and organizing deliveries
- Support other stations and kitchen operations when needed
- Minimize waste and maintain cost-conscious kitchen practices
- Assist with opening, closing, and deep cleaning duties
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a restaurant kitchen preferred
- Experience in high-volume restaurants is an asset
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and stay organized during service
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- Food Handler Certification is an asset
