Based at the Sheldon M. Chumir Health Centre, the Central Family Medicine Teaching Centre is an academic family medicine clinic jointly operated by Primary Care Alberta and the University of Calgary's Department of Family Medicine. The Centre provides comprehensive primary care services to more than 10,000 patients and serves as a dynamic teaching and learning environment for family medicine residents and other health professional learners. The multidisciplinary team includes more than 20 family physicians, nursing, allied health, administrative staff, and learners. The Primary Care Registered Nurse (RN) is a key clinical leadership role within the Centre. As an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, the RN contributes to the delivery of comprehensive, patient and family centered primary care that meets the diverse needs of patients, families, and healthcare providers. The RN provides leadership in nursing practice and plays a critical role in advancing clinical excellence, quality improvement, innovation, and team-based care. Responsibilities include guiding nursing practice development, supporting the professional growth of interdisciplinary team members, establishing and maintaining practice standards, and contributing to program development aligned with the Patient Medical Home model of care. The RN also supports educational and research initiatives that enhance clinical practice and patient outcomes within the Centre. Key functions of the role may include direct patient care, care planning and evaluation, case management, quality improvement leadership, clinical decision making and problem solving, patient advocacy, program development, mentorship, and leadership of nursing and interdisciplinary practice initiatives.
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of PCA. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Additional Required Qualifications:
3 to 5 years of experience in primary care, ambulatory care, community health, or an outpatient clinical setting. Knowledge of and experience with continuous quality improvement methodologies and initiatives. Advanced computer proficiency, including Microsoft 365 applications, electronic information systems, virtual meeting platforms, and the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies. Demonstrated excellence in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders. Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and evidence informed decision making skills. Proven ability to work independently while contributing effectively within an interdisciplinary team environment. Demonstrated leadership, collaboration, and relationship building skills. Exceptional planning, organizational, and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines. Knowledge of and commitment to privacy, confidentiality, and information management practices, including compliance with the Access to Information Act (ATIA), Privacy Act (POPA), and Health Information Act (HIA). Physical ability to perform the demands of the role, including assisting with patient mobility and transfers, lifting up to 40lbs, and tolerating prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in adult education, curriculum development, and facilitation of individual and group learning activities. Demonstrated leadership experience in a clinical setting, such as Charge Nurse, Clinical Educator, Team Lead, or equivalent role. Strong understanding of the Health Professions Act (HPA), professional standards, and legislated nursing scope of practice. Experience supporting change management, practice improvement, or professional development initiatives.
