JMG Carrier Ltd. is hiring experienced Class 1 drivers out of Edmonton for cross-border long haul work into the western United States.
We are an asset-based carrier with over 20 years hauling freight between Canada and the US West Coast. We run our own tractors and trailers, and we are a dedicated carrier for major Canadian grocery chains. That volume is what keeps our trucks loaded and our drivers moving.
The Run
You will run loaded out of Alberta and British Columbia into the western US, primarily Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, Nevada, Utah, and Arizona. Freight is a mix of LTL and FTL, dry van and temperature-controlled. Steady lanes, steady miles, and dispatch that knows the border.
What We Offer
- Pay: $0.55 - $0.65 per mile
- Consistent miles. Dedicated grocery lanes and high lane volume mean fewer empty days.
- Late-model equipment. Volvo VNL 760, Kenworth T680, Freightliner Cascadia tractors and Utility Reefer and Dry Van trailers, maintained in-house.
- Direct dispatch. You talk to a person who knows your load, not a call queue.
- Clear paperwork process. Southbound (PAPS), northbound (PARS), and domestic procedures are documented so you are not guessing at the booth.
What You Need
- Valid Class 1 license (Alberta or BC)
- Minimum 2 years verifiable long haul experience, cross-border preferred
- Clean driver's abstract, no major violations
- Valid passport and eligibility to enter the United States
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and register with the FMCSA Clearinghouse (required for US operation)
- Comfortable with ELD systems and mobile dispatch communication
- Reefer experience is an asset
What You Will Do
- Operate a company tractor on cross-border runs from AB and BC to the US West Coast
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections, report defects promptly
- Set and monitor reefer temperatures on temperature-controlled loads
- Handle customs paperwork correctly for southbound and northbound crossings
- Submit BOLs, customs documents, and PODs to dispatch
- Maintain accurate ELD logs, stay compliant with both Canadian and US hours of service
- Verify counts and secure loads at pickup and delivery
- Keep dispatch updated on ETAs, delays, and appointment times
