Position Summary
Millennium Mechanical Contracting is seeking an experienced Shaft & Construction Supervisor to lead underground and surface crews involved in shaft rehabilitation, underground construction, mechanical installations, material handling systems, loading pocket rehabilitation, crusher installations, conveyor systems, and mine support activities.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning work, supervising personnel, coordinating resources, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and delivering projects safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise underground and surface construction crews.
- Coordinate shaft rehabilitation and maintenance activities.
- Plan and execute construction and mechanical projects in accordance with schedules and client requirements.
- Conduct pre-job planning, hazard assessments, and daily safety meetings.
- Ensure compliance with company safety programs, mine regulations, and applicable legislation.
- Coordinate manpower, equipment, materials, and tooling required for project execution.
- Monitor productivity, workmanship, and project progress.
- Complete daily reports, shift reports, inspections, and project documentation.
- Participate in incident investigations and corrective action implementation.
- Mentor employees and promote a strong safety-first culture.
- Work closely with project managers, clients, and site personnel.
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and resource forecasting.
- Identify and resolve field-level issues to maintain project progress.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 10 years of underground mining, construction, or industrial experience.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Strong understanding of underground mining operations and construction activities.
- Proven ability to lead crews in high-risk work environments.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and work procedures.
- Experience coordinating multiple tasks and crews simultaneously.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Ability to pass site-specific medical, orientation, and drug and alcohol requirements.
Preferred Experience
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in:
- Shaft rehabilitation and shaft maintenance projects.
- Underground construction and mine development support.
- Loading pocket rehabilitation and ore handling systems.
- Crusher installations, maintenance, and rebuilds.
- Conveyor installation, maintenance, and commissioning.
- Mechanical equipment installation and alignment.
- Structural steel installation and rehabilitation.
- Underground welding and fabrication activities.
- Material handling systems.
- Pump installations and dewatering systems.
- Maintenance shutdowns and major project execution.
- Heavy mechanical equipment removals and installations.
- Underground infrastructure rehabilitation projects.
- Project planning, scheduling, and resource coordination.
- Client-facing project execution and contractor management.
