Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and professional Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical and dental office settings, possess strong administrative skills, and be comfortable working with electronic medical records. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a well-organized practice that prioritizes patient care and efficient office operations. Prior experience with Epic, Dentrix, and medical terminology is highly desirable. The Medical Office Assistant will serve as a key point of contact at the front desk, ensuring smooth patient flow and accurate record management.
Duties
- Greet patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner at the front desk
- Manage multi-line phone systems to schedule appointments, answer inquiries, and relay messages
- Maintain and update electronic medical records using MED access - must have experience using it.
- Verify patient insurance information and process billing or payments as needed
- Assist with check-in and check-out procedures for patients
- Prepare patient charts, update medical histories, and ensure all documentation is accurate and complete
- Coordinate with healthcare providers to facilitate smooth clinic operations
- Perform general administrative tasks including filing, data entry, and managing correspondence
- Support the dental receptionist duties when necessary, including appointment scheduling for dental services
Skills
- Proficiency with electronic medical records systems
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare documentation standards
- Previous experience working in a dental or medical office environment is preferred
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced setting
- Exceptional communication skills for interacting with patients, staff, and providers
- Experience with office equipment including multi-line phone systems, scanners, and copiers
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
