Calian is currently looking to engage Nurse Practitioners to work on a part-time or full-time basis at the Central North Correctional Centre (CNCC) in Penetanguishene, ON, from 1 to 5 days per week. With lots of scheduling flexibility, you can build the schedule you want!
Central North Correctional Centre (CNCC) is a maximum-security provincial correctional facility. It houses adult male and female inmates serving sentences of less than two years; individuals awaiting trial; and those held on remand. CNCC provides a range of healthcare, mental health, and rehabilitative services, including medical treatment, addiction support, and reintegration programs.
- Provide comprehensive primary healthcare to incarcerated individuals, including physical and mental health assessments, diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic conditions
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop individualized care plans, prescribe medications, and implement harm reduction strategies
- Promote preventative healthcare
- Must be licensed and in Good Standing as a Nurse Practitioner with the CNO
- Experience providing nurse practitioner services with autonomy
- Experience working with people with addictions and mental health conditions, including providing OAT
- Knowledge of and/or experience in providing urgent and acute health care to marginalized and diverse populations, conducting assessment and providing treatment
- Knowledge of and/or experience working with First Nation, Metis and/or Inuit persons
- Experience managing chronic and complex health care conditions
- Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team which includes but is not limited to physicians, psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses and social workers
- Must be able to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check, and Ministry of Ontario security clearance
