Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background, proficiency in CNC programming, and experience with various machining tools and techniques. This role involves operating manual and CNC machinery, reading blueprints, and ensuring precise fabrication of components to meet quality standards. The Manual Machinist will play a critical part in supporting our production processes through expert craftsmanship and technical knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Operate manual machines such as lathes, mills, and grinders to produce precision parts according to specifications
- Set up and program CNC machines including CNC lathe and CNC milling machines using Fanuc controls
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models to determine machining requirements
- Use precision measuring tools such as calipers to verify dimensions and tolerances
- Perform routine maintenance on machining equipment and troubleshoot issues as they arise
- Select appropriate hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment for fabrication tasks
- Assist with assembly processes when necessary, ensuring parts fit and function correctly
- Follow lean manufacturing principles to optimize workflow and reduce waste
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment adhering to safety protocols
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Manual Machinist or in a similar manufacturing role
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in machining operations
- Proficiency in CNC programming, especially with Fanuc controls
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD files (SolidWorks preferred)
- Skilled in using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement tools
- Familiarity with CNC lathe and CNC milling machines
- Knowledge of blueprint reading, basic math skills for measurements and calculations
- Experience with hand tools, power tools, welding techniques, and assembly processes
- Ability to operate forklifts is a plus but not required
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles is advantageous
