Job Description: As an Electrical Apprentice, you will work directly with experienced electricians and technicians to support the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical automation systems. This apprenticeship will provide you with a hands-on learning experience in control systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), sensors, motors, and other automation technologies. You’ll have the opportunity to develop the skills needed to advance into a full-fledged electrician or controls engineer.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of automation systems, including PLCs, control panels, sensors, and motors.
- Support troubleshooting and diagnostics of automated systems in industrial or commercial settings.
- Learn to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and control system documentation.
- Work with automation programming tools and software under supervision, learning to write and modify simple control programs.
- Help with the setup and calibration of automated equipment and devices to ensure optimal performance.
- Follow electrical codes, safety standards, and company procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
- Participate in system testing, calibration, and validation of automated systems.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on automated systems to ensure continued functionality.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in an organized and safe manner.
- Continuously expand your knowledge of automation technologies, electrical components, and industry standards.
Qualifications:
- A strong interest in automation systems, controls, and electrical work.
- Basic knowledge of electrical systems or automation is helpful but not required.
- Strong aptitude for learning technical concepts and troubleshooting.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Good problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude towards learning.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety in all work practices.
- Ability to lift, carry, and handle materials and equipment as needed.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
