MSALABS is an experienced global provider of geochemical laboratory services to the exploration and mining industries in Canada, the USA and around the world. We have a rapidly growing network of laboratories in key mining regions around the world to limit lead times and transit costs and we employ the latest hi-tech analysis equipment.
We are looking for a dedicated and detail orientated self-starter who has the following skills and experience:
Responsibilities:
Sample Preparation:
- Execute Fire Assay tasks in accordance with documented Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and recognized reference methods.
- Weigh and manually flux samples, load and unload fusion/cupellation furnaces, and handle lead waste responsibly.
Quality Control:
- Monitor quality control results and report any deviations to your direct line manager or nominated person.
- Perform scheduled verification (intermediate checks) of critical equipment (weight, volume, temperature, calibration standards as applicable).
- Assist with all quality and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) incident investigations.
Data Management:
- Assist with weighing pulp samples for Fire Assay, ensuring a minimum of target samples are processed per shift.
- Maintain accurate records of sample preparation and quality control results.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) protocols, including lead control measures.
- Act in a safe and professional manner, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and practicing good housekeeping.
- Report any unsafe conditions or nonconforming events related to customer samples to your direct line manager or nominated person.
- Report any deviation from documented procedures to your direct line manager, or nominated person. Monitoring the performance and maintenance of the instruments.
Collaboration:
- Communicate general laboratory issues to your direct line manager, or nominated personas necessary.
- Assist in coordinating sample movement between different laboratory areas.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask under pressure
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
- 1-2 years of experience in sample preparation at a commercial laboratory or equivalent manual labor experience (e.g., construction).
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
