We're looking for an experienced Office Manager & Full Charge Bookkeeper to join our team and play a key role in the day-to-day operations and continued growth of our business.
Position Summary
This role is responsible for overseeing bookkeeping, payroll, office administration, and daily office operations while working closely with ownership and management.
We are looking for more than a traditional bookkeeper. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who takes ownership of their responsibilities, identifies opportunities for improvement, and helps develop systems and processes that support a growing construction business.
This position is primarily office-based and requires regular attendance at our Surrey office. Applicants must reside within commuting distance of the office.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Payroll
- Full-cycle bookkeeping
- Accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Bank and credit card reconciliations
- Financial reporting and record maintenance
- Payroll processing, remittances, and compliance
- Preparation of T4s and T5018s
- Year-end file preparation for external accountants
Office Management
- Front desk reception and incoming calls
- Employee onboarding and benefits administration
- Office supply and equipment management
- Builders Lien holdback tracking
- Administrative support for ownership and management
- Coordination with external IT and service providers
Process Improvement
- Identify and implement operational efficiencies
- Improve accounting and administrative workflows
- Assist with software, reporting, and systems improvements
- Help develop processes that support company growth
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 3 years of full-cycle bookkeeping experience
- Experience with Sage 50, Sage 100, or similar accounting ERP systems
- Construction accounting experience, including progress billings, job costing, and Builders Lien Holdbacks.
- Payroll Certification (PCP/PLP), Payroll & Accounting Diploma, or equivalent accounting education
- Strong experience with accounting software and business systems
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent attention to detail
Preferred
- Experience with accounting software migrations or system implementations
- Experience administering employee benefits plans
- Previous office management experience
- Experience improving business processes and operational systems
