Position Summary:
The Manufacturing Process Improvement Engineer is responsible for leading and supporting continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations. Working closely with production and support teams, this role uses data analysis, Lean Manufacturing principles, and Industrial Engineering techniques to improve safety, quality, productivity, and overall operational performance. This position offers the opportunity to drive meaningful changes, develop innovative solutions, and contribute directly to the organization's long-term success.
Job Duties:
- Identify, prioritize, and lead process improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, delivery, and cost.
- Analyze manufacturing processes, workflows, and operational data to identify improvement opportunities.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Industrial Engineering principles to eliminate waste and improve performance.
- Lead Kaizen events, root cause investigations, and cross-functional problem-solving activities.
- Lead improvement projects from concept through implementation, including project planning, execution, and sustainment.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and use data-driven decision-making to measure results.
- Conduct time studies, workflow analysis, capacity planning, and labor utilization assessments.
- Create and maintain process documentation, standard work, operating procedures, and visual management systems.
- Support new product introductions through process development, tooling evaluation, and production readiness activities.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to improve manufacturing performance.
- Assist with facility layout improvements, material flow optimization, and workplace organization initiatives.
- Train and support employees in Lean principles, standard work, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Lead change management efforts to ensure successful adoption and sustainment of process improvements.
- Prepare and communicate project updates, results, and recommendations to leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies, including concepts such as 5S, Standard Work, Value Stream Mapping, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Experience collecting, analyzing, and interpreting operational or production data.
- Project management skills with the ability to lead initiatives and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience facilitating cross-functional teams and driving change within an organization.
- Familiarity with quality systems, process auditing, and corrective action methodologies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Self-motivated with a passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Ability to use AutoCAD is considered an asset.
