ABOUT THE POSITION
We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Flagger / Traffic Controller to join our construction team. Our client provides general contracting, construction management, and related services for commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects.
The Flagger / Traffic Controller will play an important role in maintaining safe traffic flow around active construction sites while protecting workers, pedestrians, motorists, and other site personnel.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Direct and control the safe movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic through construction zones.
- Set up, inspect, maintain, and remove traffic control devices, including cones, barricades, signs, and other temporary traffic-control equipment.
- Communicate clearly with construction workers, motorists, pedestrians, and other personnel.
- Provide clear and timely instructions to drivers and pedestrians in accordance with established traffic-control procedures.
- Monitor traffic conditions and adjust traffic patterns as required to maintain safe and efficient movement.
- Identify and report potential safety hazards or unsafe conditions to the appropriate supervisor.
- Follow all company policies, site-specific procedures, and applicable health and safety requirements.
- Maintain a professional and safety-focused presence at all times.
- Perform other duties related to traffic control and construction-site safety as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS / CERTIFICATIONS
- Previous experience as a flagger, traffic controller, or in a construction environment is an asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and situational awareness.
- Ability to remain alert and focused in a busy, fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of traffic-control procedures and applicable safety requirements.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a construction team.
- Required or applicable certifications, such as Flagger Certification or Traffic Control Technician Certification, are considered an asset or may be required depending on the project.
- Ability to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to meet the physical demands associated with construction-site work.
PHYSICAL AND WORK REQUIREMENTS:
This position is primarily outdoors and may involve standing or walking for extended periods. The successful candidate must be comfortable working around active construction equipment, vehicles, and changing traffic conditions, while following all required safety procedures.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
SCHEDULE:
- Monday to Friday: Days and Afternoon (10 – 12 hours shift)
