Al’s Hotshot & Trucking Services Ltd. is looking for a reliable, safety-minded Oilfield Swamper to join our trucking and oilfield services team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, working outdoors, supporting experienced operators, and learning the oilfield trucking industry from the ground up.
The successful candidate will assist drivers and operators with loading, unloading, rigging, inspections, paperwork, site safety, and general labour duties on a variety of oilfield jobs. This role offers growth potential for the right candidate, including the opportunity to work toward obtaining a Class 1 driver’s licence and advancing into a driver/operator position.
Responsibilities
- Assist drivers and operators with loading, unloading, and securing oilfield equipment and materials.
- Help with rigging, chains, straps, boomers, shackles, taglines, pads, and other job-related equipment.
- Spot trucks and equipment while backing up, positioning, loading, unloading, and working on location.
- Assist with pre-trip and post-trip inspections, daily equipment checks, and general truck upkeep.
- Keep trucks, equipment, tools, and job sites clean, organized, and ready for use.
- Complete or assist with required paperwork, safety forms, field tickets, hazard assessments, and digital documentation as required.
- Follow all company safety policies, customer site requirements, and applicable transportation and oilfield regulations.
- Wear and maintain required PPE and participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and training.
- Work outdoors in changing weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks as required.
- Support drivers, dispatch, shop staff, safety personnel, and customers in a professional and respectful manner.
Requirements
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence required; clean driver’s abstract is preferred.
- Interest in obtaining a Class 1 driver’s licence is considered a strong asset.
- Oilfield, trucking, rigging, shop, labour, or equipment experience is an asset, but we are willing to train the right person.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, bend, kneel, climb, and work on your feet for long periods.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and in remote or active oilfield environments.
- Strong safety mindset and ability to follow instructions, procedures, and customer site rules.
- Reliable, punctual, hardworking, and able to work as part of a team.
- Basic ability to use a smartphone or mobile apps for dispatching, safety forms, logs, and job documentation.
- Must be able to pass pre-employment and customer-required drug and alcohol testing.

- Fall Protection or other oilfield safety tickets are considered assets
