As a BAS Controls Technician: You will be responsible for serving Nerva’s customers by installing and servicing systems and technologies, while remaining aligned with strategy, commitments and goals of the company.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This is NOT an apprenticeship position.
A day as BAS Controls Technician:
Installing temperature sensors and controllers. Installation of RTU and Makeup air controls and sensors. Connecting control to existing economizer and taking control of economizer byfinding the right wires to connect. Installation of Zone controller to run multiple stages of Make-up air unit. Installation of power modules utilizing dry contacts to control baseboard heaters. Commission each unit controls by setting up the new controller in the program.
Responsibilities:
· Operates, controls, and programs computer-aided Building Automation Systems (BAS).
· Coordinates installation, calibration, operation, corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance and/or repairs of BAS.
· Maintains BAS program documentation and wiring and installation diagrams.
· Participates in BAS software, hardware, and equipment upgrades.
· Assess BAS networking requirements and provide direction and support.
· Assists in the development of commissioning specifications and maintains commissioning documentation.
· Assist in designing and implementing programming, graphics, and sequences of operations for BAS under the direction of a senior technician/programmer.
· Work closely with engineering, operations, BAS manufacturer representatives, and clients to accomplish tasks.
· Understand project scopes, goals and deliverables
· Implement projects while following a defined plan
· Understand tasks and required resources to implement projects
· Organize material as needed to implement projects
· Provide independent effort required to accomplish goals on time
· Communicate with project manager on deliverables and labour effort on projects
· Work with and support other technicians in the field
· Participate in project commissioning and quality assurance activities
· Visually inspect, identify, and troubleshoot commercial HVAC equipment and systems issues
· Install HVAC controls including but not limited to thermostats, sensors, actuators, controllers, and wiring.
· Set up and commission HVAC controls
· Install in-ductwork equipment and low-voltage wiring
· Present to the project manager reports on progress as well as problems and solutions
· Suggest and implement changes when necessary to meet project outputs
· Liaise with building operators, maintenance staff, and other contractors to ensure alignment
· Maintain assigned tools and equipment in good operating condition by following instructions,
· troubleshooting malfunctions, maintaining supply levels, performing regular maintenance, and scheduling needed repairs
· Documents installation and service activities by completing forms, reports, logs, and records in paper form and through tracking software
· Supports operational and organizational missions by completing all tasks promptly and accurately
· Keeps all customer information confidential
· Follows all Health & Safety, Environmental, ESA, TSSA, Building Code, and other applicable regulations

- AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)
