Job Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Technician, under the direction of, is responsible for performing general maintenance and repair for Bosco and Roxy's. The incumbent completes general carpentry and electrical repair and maintenance work as required. The Building Maintenance Worker also performs basic repairs and maintenance on the mechanical operating systems found within Bosco and Roxy's.
Responsibilities Associated with Performing the Job
● Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities
● Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines and equipment
● Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance tasks as required
● Conduct general carpentry functions
● Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment while performing duties
● Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
● Participate in various aspects of building maintenance requirements, including updates and new constructions
● Set priorities for preventive maintenance work orders, maintenance requisitions and scheduled work
● Maintain adequate supplies for the maintenance department
● Assist in the orientation and training of staff
● Complete all necessary reports and records related to the department as required
● Perform regular workplace inspections to determine areas that need maintenance or repair
● Ensure that any required maintenance and repairs are completed in a timely manner
● Prepare, paint and decorate interior and exterior surfaces as required
● Operate grounds-keeping power equipment and maintain external property
● Perform minor construction work, e.g., dismantling and erecting walls, finishing carpentry work, pouring concrete, etc.
● Troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain various electrical components, appliances and equipment in accordance with pertinent codes, the preventive maintenance program and departmental procedures
● Repair electrical locks and control panels to maintain building security
● Troubleshoot, install, and repair plumbing fixtures, piping, and related equipment
● Perform necessary work to open clogged sewer lines
● Maintain an adequate supply of hot water at the correct temperature
● Initiate safety concerns and makes judgment on the best methods of completing tasks
● Perform basic maintenance and repairs on the various mechanical operating systems found at Bosco and Roxy's, including furnace systems, air conditioning systems, etc.
● Inspect the premises for burnt out light bulbs – ensure these are replaced immediately
● Change furnace and air conditioning filters as needed
● Replace broken windows, repair doors, door locks and closets, install/replace window blinds, etc.
● Complete daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures
● Participate in Health and Safety, Fire Safety and Quality Improvement Programs
● Maintain records of scheduled maintenance procedures
● Any other duties as required
Skills, Knowledge/Experience Required to perform the job
College diploma in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering Technician, Electromechanical Engineering Technician, Millwright, Industrial Electrician, Building Systems Technician, or a related field.
Electrical Knowledge:
· Knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motors, VFDs, sensors, relays, and control panels.
· Ability to troubleshoot electrical faults safely.
· Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
· Experience using multimeters and electrical testing equipment.
· Understanding of electrical codes and safety standards.
Mechanical Knowledge:
· Knowledge of conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, pneumatic systems, and hydraulic systems. ·
Ability to perform preventative and predictive maintenance.
· Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
· Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and equipment manuals.
· Experience with machine repairs, alignment, lubrication systems, and power transmission components.
Food Manufacturing Experience (Preferred)
· Previous experience working in a food manufacturing or GMP environment.
· Understanding of sanitation requirements and food safety regulations.
· Experience minimizing production downtime through effective maintenance planning.
Working Conditions while performing the job
Works within established guidelines in an area that has continuous noise from production machinery. Exposure to noise, dust, odours, fumes, oils, hot and cold temperature. Works in a bright environment.
