Position Overview
The Senior Embryologist will serve as a key member of the IVF Laboratory team, responsible for executing and optimizing all laboratory procedures to ensure the highest standards of clinical performance and patient outcomes. This is a hands-on, advanced technical role suited for an experienced embryologist who thrives on precision, innovation, and scientific rigor.
The Senior Embryologist will work closely with the IVF Laboratory Director and clinical team, contributing specialized expertise to complex cases, advanced procedures, and continuous improvement of laboratory systems. This individual will act as a subject matter expert and resource for colleagues, supporting Pollin’s mission to deliver safe, efficient, and patient-centered fertility care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform all core embryology procedures, including oocyte retrieval, insemination, embryo culture, grading, cryopreservation, and embryo transfer.
- Conduct advanced micromanipulation techniques such as ICSI and embryo biopsy for preimplantation genetic testing (PGT).
- Ensure consistent compliance with laboratory protocols, quality control, and quality assurance programs.
- Monitor laboratory equipment and conditions, coordinating maintenance and calibration to ensure operational excellence.
- Troubleshoot procedural and equipment issues independently and implement evidence-based solutions.
- Collaborate closely with reproductive endocrinologists, nurses, and genetic counselors to support individualized patient treatment plans.
- Contribute to the evaluation and implementation of new technologies and laboratory methods to enhance efficiency and outcomes.
- Maintain detailed laboratory records and participate in data analysis, reporting, and audits.
- Support research initiatives, protocol development, and professional presentations where applicable.
- Uphold patient confidentiality, safety, and ethical standards at all times.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience as an embryologist in an IVF laboratory; senior-level technical proficiency required.
- Master’s or doctoral degree in reproductive biology, embryology, or a related discipline.
- Advanced technical expertise in embryo culture, micromanipulation, vitrification, and PGT-related procedures.
- Strong working knowledge of laboratory accreditation standards and best practices in IVF quality management.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and the pursuit of scientific excellence.
- Experience with data analysis, research projects, or publications considered an asset.
- Eligibility for relevant medical laboratory or embryology certification is preferred.
