POSITION OVERVIEW
Gray Ridge Eggs Inc. is looking to hire a fulltime afternoon shunt driver for our Listowel, Ontario facility. This role ensures timely trailer positioning while adhering to safety protocols and communication with warehouse and logistics teams.
Responsibilities
- Operating and driving a tractor trailer unit
- Ensuring established HACCP, bio-security, and health and safety procedures are followed
- Ensuring the trucks are hooked to the assigned trailers and ready for the assigned driver
- Ensuring that trucks are fuelled and maintained,
- Ensuring reefers are set properly fueled after loading, or over weekend.
- Communicate between Shippers, Maintenance, Truck and Trailer Washer, & Dispatch and assuring the trailers are in the planned dock or repair shop.
- Following dispatch orders to pick up or drop off units.
- Overseeing all functions of the vehicle, such as condition of the vehicle, equipment and materials, loading and unloading, and safety and security of the load.
- Maintaining the general upkeep and care of the vehicle and reporting any maintenance/operating problems.
- Observing all safety, traffic, and criminal laws and regulations while operating a company vehicle.
- Maintaining standards of professionalism, both in appearance and in interactions with customers and the public in general.
- Ensuring trailers are booked into docks in a timely fashion for Shippers.
- Maintaining paperwork and materials,
- Building and Maintaining positive working relationships with all levels of staff,
Skills
- Able to read, write and speak English and basic math skills. Grade 12 education would be preferred.
- License must be current and driving record must be acceptable.
- Must be skilled at backing up and manoeuvring 53 foot tandem/ tri axle trailers into difficult and constricted areas.
- Excellent customer relation skills. A positive team player committed to excellent service.
- Able to deal with a broad and diverse customer base in a professional and courteous manner.
- Excellent time management and communication skills.
- Basic math skills and ability to complete paperwork accurately.
- Able to adapt to changes and open to learning new ways to get things done more efficiently and effectively.
- Able to work in a fast pace environment, thinking and reacting quickly, and making fast yet accurate decisions.
- Knowledge of hand trucks, pallet jacks, dock plates, lift gates, load bars, restraint devices etc.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 2pm-11pm
