Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated, safety-focused individual to join our Kelowna team in a part-time Yard Technician/Driver role. This position offers a combination of commercial driving and warehouse/yard responsibilities supporting the collection, handling, and processing of hazardous and non-hazardous industrial waste.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys a variety of work, is comfortable operating equipment, and wants to build a career in the environmental services industry. Full training will be provided to the right candidate.
Position Responsibilities
Driving & Customer Service
- Safely operate company vehicles including waste oil collection trucks, bulk tank trucks, and box trucks.
- Collect, transport, load, and unload hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials from industrial, commercial, automotive, and municipal customers.
- Perform waste collections while ensuring compliance with TDG Regulations, WorkSafeBC requirements, environmental regulations, and company safety procedures.
- Conduct waste identification, container inspections, labeling verification, and complete all required shipping documentation.
- Complete manifests, bills of lading, electronic paperwork, logbooks, and daily inspection reports accurately.
- Provide professional customer service while representing E360 at customer sites throughout the Okanagan and surrounding areas.
Warehouse & Yard Operations
- Receive, inspect, unload, sort, and stage incoming waste materials.
- Consolidate and prepare drums, pails, totes, and bulk containers for shipment and processing.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, drum dollies, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload transport vehicles and trailers.
- Assist with inventory control, warehouse organization, housekeeping, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
- Inspect containers for damage, proper labeling, and regulatory compliance.
- Assist with general yard maintenance and facility operations as required.
- Work closely with operations staff to ensure customer service expectations and shipment schedules are met.
Position Qualifications
- Valid Class 3 Driver’s Licence with Air Brake Endorsement required.
- Class 1 Licence is considered an asset.
- Experience operating manual transmission (stick shift) commercial vehicles is required.
- Previous forklift experience is required; forklift certification is considered an asset.
- Experience loading and unloading trucks, organizing warehouse inventory, and working in an industrial yard environment is preferred.
- Experience handling hazardous waste, used oil, antifreeze, oil filters, drums, totes, or industrial materials is considered an asset.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 60 lbs and performing repetitive manual labour throughout the day.
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
- TDG, WHMIS, and First Aid certifications are considered assets.
Training & Development
Comprehensive training will be provided to the successful candidate. Previous hazardous waste or environmental industry experience is an asset but is not required for someone with the right attitude and work ethic.
