Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Lead Lighting Technician to join the Stagevision team. This role is responsible for leading the setup, operation, programming, troubleshooting, and strike of professional lighting systems for live, virtual, and hybrid events. The ideal candidate brings strong lighting knowledge, leadership capability, and the ability to manage show-site execution while maintaining the Stagevision Standard of safety, precision, presentation, and client service.
What You'll Do
- Lead the setup, operation, programming, troubleshooting, and dismantle of professional lighting systems for live events, meetings, conferences, and productions.
- Operate lighting consoles, dimmers, DMX control systems, LED fixtures, moving lights, conventional fixtures, uplighting, atmospheric effects, and related lighting equipment.
- Interpret lighting plots, show flows, technical drawings, cue sheets, room layouts, and production schedules to deliver accurate event execution.
- Program lighting looks, cues, scenes, and show files in alignment with event requirements, production direction, and client expectations.
- Complete fixture addressing, patching, focusing, testing, power checks, signal verification, and pre-show troubleshooting.
- Lead and support lighting crews during load-ins, rehearsals, show operation, resets, and load-outs.
- Coordinate closely with project managers, producers, technical directors, audio, video, staging, warehouse teams, and clients to confirm requirements and resolve technical issues.
- Maintain accurate equipment handling, packing, loading, tracking, and return procedures in accordance with company standards.
- Identify technical, safety, power, rigging, or schedule risks early and communicate practical solutions.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and professional work environment on-site and in the warehouse.
- Represent Stagevision with professionalism, teamwork, leadership, and a strong client-service mindset.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of experience in live event lighting, AV production, theatre, concerts, broadcast, hospitality events, or a related technical environment.
- Proven experience leading lighting setups, show operation, crew coordination, or technical execution on-site.
- Strong working knowledge of lighting signal flow, DMX addressing, fixture patching, networking basics, dimming, power distribution, and live event troubleshooting.
- Experience operating and programming professional lighting consoles; familiarity with grandMA, ETC, Chamsys, Avolites, or similar platforms is an asset.
- Experience with moving lights, LED fixtures, conventional fixtures, uplighting, architectural lighting, and corporate event lighting setups.
- Ability to read and follow lighting plots, equipment lists, show notes, cue sheets, technical drawings, and event schedules.
- Valid driver’s licence and access to reliable transportation; ability to drive company vehicles is an asset.
- Comfortable working flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and occasional travel.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift, move, hang, focus, and handle production equipment safely in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail and commitment to following processes, safety practices, and company standards.
