Supply Chain Manager required for emerging global food and beverage ingredient company. Top Health Ingredients is a rapidly expanding company on Edmonton’s south side whose success is driven through providing the best globally available plant-based ingredients. We help our customers succeed by providing them a market edge with best in class products and world class customer service. We require a high energy, customer-oriented manager with at least 5+ years of experience. This role is diverse and requires an experienced leader, flexible team player with initiative, and a positive attitude.

You will need to be a strong communicator who understands the negotiation process from start to finish, and who is unwaveringly focused on establishing mutually beneficial relationships that maximize profitable business gains for all parties. Your proven ability to lead a fast-paced, dynamic team will ensure our continued success in this mission-critical role.

Principal Accountabilities:

Develop and manage positive relationships with existing suppliers to ensure the continual provision of high-quality, on-specification products, while continually negotiating .
Conduct regular research to source and qualify alternative suppliers, manufacturers, and new prospective products; collect and analyze data to support sourcing decisions.
Coordinate the RFP process, soliciting formal product cost and availability information to satisfy customer requirements.
Stay current on global commodity prices and currency valuations, and their impact on costs, to ensure informed negotiations with vendors and manufacturers. Prepare strategies to mitigate or capitalize on these situations.
Work with shipping and freight companies to ensure orders are delivered cost-effectively and on time.
Manage the cost center budget for the supply chain department, partnering with Finance to monitor spend, report variances, and support annual budget planning
Optimize forecast modeling, and manage inventory, procurement,(including PO generation) and communications with manufacturers to maintain optimal inventory levels.
Provide direct reports with leadership, direction, and coaching to achieve work objectives and improve performance and skills.
Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to ensure accurate forecasts that meet business expectations, while remaining in line with customer contractual obligations.
Implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and manage supplier performance related to service, delivery, quality, and cost.
Manage incoming shipments with freight forwarders, manufacturers, and 3PL warehousing locations.
Collaborate with the QA Director in support of FDA, CBP, and CBSA regulations.
Develop and lead a continuous improvement culture focused on cost/efficiency, employee engagement, and employee retention.

Educational and Other Requirements:

Post-secondary diploma or bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics management, purchasing, or supply chain management.
An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and purchasing or supply chain experience will be considered.

Skilled and experienced negotiator who enjoys this facet of the role, and who is committed to partnering with suppliers and vendors to facilitate favorable supply, contract, and term development. Assertive and mature management style, with a proven record of achieving “win-win” outcomes.
World-class leadership and mentoring capabilities to develop and grow the supply chain team.
Outstanding written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
Fluency in Mandarin is an asset, given regular communication and negotiation with suppliers and manufacturing partners in China.
Champions the organization's core values with internal and external customers.
Proactive change agent who can eliminate operational silos and drive collaboration across the business.
Strong analytical, forecasting, planning, problem-solving, and time-management abilities.
High degree of accuracy; self-motivated and deadline-driven, with the ability to make decisions with minimal supervision.
Maintains the highest levels of personal and professional integrity and ethics.
Experience with inventory management, planning and forecasting, and familiarity with warehouse operations, systems, practices, policies, procedures, and controls.
Solid understanding of business processes and overall business acumen, with experience and knowledge of accounting systems and processes.
Advanced computer skills, including outstanding Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas), Access, and ERP experience. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics considered an asset.
Willing to travel internationally to visit manufacturers located around the globe.
