Summary:
Reporting to the Manager of Innovation and Technology, the incumbent provides first-level technical assistance and support to end-users experiencing IT-related issues. This involves responding to requests for IT assistance from staff and students, troubleshooting hardware and software issues; and providing system administration support for the Student Information System. Additionally, the role involves managing databases, developing small in-house applications, and contributing to web development projects.
The job is open for 4, 8, 12 or 16 month work term duration
Responsibilities:
- Provides first-level support on the Help Desk and participates in monitoring the Innovation and Technology ticket queue by handling requests, distributing or escalating issues to the appropriate team member
- Troubleshoot and resolve routine issues related to network access, AV equipment, printers, LAN, WLAN, internet connectivity, operating systems, and hardware and database issues and contacts external resources as needed
- Assist with onboarding and off-boarding staff and students with technical needs, and tracking and setting up equipment on loan to staff such as iPads, laptops and mobile hotspots
- Develops and maintain customized applications for internal processes and data management
- Accurately log help desk tickets and resolutions into the help desk software management system
- Set-up and tear down of AV equipment as required for various events at the School
- Assists with routine Student Information System database tasks
- Supporting the Learning Management System and contributing to training and development initiatives.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of IT documentation, including user guides, FAQs, and knowledge base articles. Share knowledge and provide self-help resources to end-users for common issues.
- Manage databases and perform basic database tasks.
- Develop small in-house applications.
- Contribute to web development projects, including but not limited to SQL.
Skills Required:
- Working towards a Post-secondary degree or diploma coupled with at least one year of help desk experience
- CompTIA A+/Network+ or MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) certification considered an asset
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows, macOS as well as Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps for Education
- Ability to diagnose problems, perform routine maintenance on IT assets, and provide support for a wide range of applications
- Experience assigning permissions and setting up applications within a database at a basic level is considered an asset
- An understanding of IP networking and connectivity

- Software Development experience with Python/Javascript/C#/VBA etc..
- Familiarity with web development technologies. such as HTML/CSS/JavaScript.
