Job Description – Civil Engineering 3D Modeler/Detailer (Contract Position)
Elements Engineering strives to provide clients with services and products that are among the best in the industry. We specialize in design engineering; precast concrete structures, overhead sign structures, modular bridges, noise walls, and traffic management plans.
Elements Engineering is looking to add a Civil Engineering 3D Modeler/Detailer to work out of our Aurora office. Working alongside our existing concrete and structural team. As a 3D Modeler/Detailer, you will play a crucial role in supporting our consulting engineers in construction and engineering process by creating 3D reinforcing steel model and detailed drawings and plans for the fabrication and installation of reinforced concrete, precast concrete, and related formwork details in concrete structures. Your precision and expertise will ensure the structural integrity and safety of various projects.
This is a minimum 1 year full-time contract position with potential of extension and transferred to permanent position.
Main Responsibilities
- Review and Interpret Design: Analyze reinforced concrete design and structural drawings, specifications, and project requirements to understand the rebar needs for concrete structures.
- Detailing: Create detailed precast shop drawings or construction drawings including rebar placement plans using AutoCAD and 3D modeling software. Ensure that the drawings adhere to industry standards and project specifications.
- Quantity Estimation: Accurately calculate the quantity and size of rebar required for each project, considering factors such as structural loads, building codes, and design specifications.
- Quality Assurance: Verify that all detailing and design work complies with industry codes, standards, and safety regulations. Conduct quality checks to eliminate errors and discrepancies.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to address design issues, resolve conflicts, and ensure that designs align with the project's structural integrity goals.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with project teams, providing technical guidance and support to the clients throughout the production and construction process. Address inquiries and provide clarifications on detailed designs as needed.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all detailing work, including drawings, revisions, and change orders.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in detailing. Suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree / diploma in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Detailer or a similar role in the construction or precast manufacturing industry.
- Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software, including AutoCAD, and 3D modeling CAD software (Revit).
- Knowledge of building codes and highway bridge codes, construction material standards, and industry regulations related to detailing.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills for calculating quantities.
- Spatial visualization ability.
- Attention to detail and excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with project teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills.
- Good working attitude

Pay: $65,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
