About Grandview Kids
Grandview Kids provides an array of specialized programs, rehabilitation services, and outpatient clinical treatments to children and youth with physical, communication, and developmental needs. Programs and services – which are delivered at the Centre, in the community, at schools, and in-home – include: medical consultation, assessment, and diagnosis; audiology, autism support; complex care program; occupational therapy; physiotherapy; respite services; social work; speech-language pathology; therapeutic recreation; and family engagement. Grandview Kids actively participates in research to support innovation in rehabilitation science, to advance organizational capabilities, and to better serve caregivers and the developmental needs of their children and adolescents. Grandview Kids is now accepting applications for the position of:

up to 12 hours per week (0.3 FTE) Hours of work will primarily be evenings and/or weekends

Salary: $26.11 – $30.54 depending upon experience

Contract Duration: October 6, 2026 - March 31, 2027

Under the general direction of the Program Manager, Inclusive Recreation, the Inclusive Recreation Facilitator implements a wide variety of recreational activities; ensures the safety of program clients; assists in participant care through the completion of program plans and other administrative responsibilities as required; provides leadership, direction and support to program volunteers; maintains communication with all other staff members and community representatives; supports departmental/Centre efforts in Quality management (QM) activities; participates in education, orientation and public relations as required; maintains a safe work environment; performs other related duties, as assigned.
The Inclusive Recreation Facilitator implements a wide variety of recreational programs by:
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Working collaboratively with other program staff to plan program activities;

Implementing approved planned and appropriate activities;
-
Modifying activities to meet needs and abilities of participants;
-
Assisting clients with fine and gross motor movement, snack time, and changing;
-
Evaluating program activities and communicating results to supervisor and/or Program Manager.

Working alongside and taking direction from community partners (when applicable) to carry out programming
-
Collaboration with the Family Support Assistant, clinical teams and consultants and community
-
Reviewing participant profiles prior to start of program to familiarize themselves with participant needs to adjust programming as required.

Completing environmental scans prior to start of each session.

Consulting with the Program Manager as needed to mitigate any safety concerns that would impact program participants or staff
-
Welcoming volunteers to program and providing volunteers with an overview of planned activities;
-
Attending and participating in appropriate Centre safety programs; and conducting regular safety inspections of recreation equipment, requesting maintenance and repairs, as needed.

Qualifications

Completion of a high school diploma
-
Completion or working towards relevant degree or college diploma in heath science, recreation and leisure, etc. or equivalent combination of experience and education;

Current CPR and First Aid certifications.

Minimum one year’s experience working with children and youth with special needs olive experience as a Grandview Kids client and/or family member of a Grandview Kids client is an asset
You are a superior communicator, both written and verbal with exceptional organizational and time management skills. You possess excellent interpersonal skills, and you have a deep commitment to family-centred care and a passion for working with others to support children to achieve their personal best.
