The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is a regulatory agency that reports to the Ministry of the Attorney General. The AGCO is responsible for regulating the alcohol, gaming, horseracing, and cannabis retail sectors in Ontario, in accordance with the principles of honesty and integrity, and in the public interest.

About the job

The successful candidate will:

Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda for Division counsel
Participate in committee work and special projects
Assist in the preparation of materials for appeals and judicial reviews
Maintain carriage of files in the Letter of Incident process
Maintain precedent files and database
Prepare contracts and procurement documents

What you bring to the team

Qualifications:

Student membership in the Law Society of Ontario
Fully registered in the Lawyer Licensing Process and eligible for articling in accordance with the requirements set out by the Law Society of Ontario
Excellent legal research and writing skills
Knowledge of legislation administered by the AGCO
Ability and willingness to travel within Ontario, including a valid driver's licence with at least the privileges of a class “G” driver's licence in Ontario

The successful candidate must be eligible to work in Canada and will be subject to a criminal background check.
