Regehr Workplace Safety Solutions provides occupational health and safety consulting, training, first aid, and safety support services to organizations throughout British Columbia.
Our team includes experienced health and safety professionals with a broad range of backgrounds, qualifications, and industry experience. We take a practical and collaborative approach to safety and focus on providing solutions that work in real-world workplaces.
The Role
The successful candidate will divide their time between delivering safety training and providing health and safety advisory services to RWSS clients.
Training may include:
- Fall Protection
- Confined Space Entry
- Forklift / Lift Truck
- Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs)
- WHMIS
- General workplace and construction safety topics
- Other safety courses based on the candidate's qualifications and experience
Health and Safety Advisor responsibilities may include:
- Providing practical health and safety support to clients
- Conducting workplace and jobsite inspections
- Completing hazard assessments and providing recommendations
- Developing and reviewing safe work procedures and safety documentation
- Assisting clients with regulatory compliance and WorkSafeBC requirements
- Supporting incident investigations and corrective actions
- Participating in safety meetings and worker orientations
- Coaching supervisors and workers on safe work practices
- Assisting with the development and implementation of occupational health and safety programs
- Supporting other RWSS consultants and trainers as required
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience working in occupational health and safety, preferably within construction, industrial, utilities, or related environments
- Experience delivering instructor-led safety training
- Current instructor certifications or recognized qualifications for one or more of the following:
- Fall Protection
- Confined Space
- Forklift / Lift Truck
- Mobile Elevated Work Platforms
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills
- The ability to engage workers with different levels of experience and learning styles
- A practical understanding of workplace hazards and appropriate controls
- Knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations and BC occupational health and safety requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative team
- Valid driver's licence
CRSP, CRST, NCSO/CSO or other recognized health and safety designations are considered an asset.
Experience or instructor qualifications in additional safety topics are also an asset.
Travel & Flexibility
Some travel throughout British Columbia may be required depending on client and training needs. The ability and willingness to travel periodically is preferred.
We recognize that flexibility is important. RWSS offers a work environment that provides variety and flexibility while balancing client requirements, training schedules, field work, and other responsibilities.
This is not a role where every day looks the same. One day may involve delivering a fall protection course, while another may involve visiting a construction project, helping a client develop a safe work procedure, conducting an inspection, or working alongside another member of our safety team.
