Position Summary
The Volunteer Services Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, onboarding, engagement, scheduling, recognition, and ongoing support of Ross Memorial’s Volunteer and Spiritual Care program. This position plays a key role in ensuring volunteers have a meaningful and rewarding experience while supporting exceptional patient, family, and visitor experiences throughout the organization.
Working collaboratively with the RMH Foundation, staff, hospital leaders, and volunteer teams, the Coordinator will develop and maintain a strong Volunteer and Spiritual Care program that aligns with the hospital’s mission and strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract a diverse and engaged volunteer workforce.
- Work closely with hospital departments to identify volunteer opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with the Foundation and Nutrition Services department to ensure seamless support of volunteer services to the operational needs of the Gift Shop and Reflections Café.
- Recruit and onboard new volunteers
- Build positive relationships with community organizations, schools, and partner agencies.
- Promote volunteer opportunities through presentations, social media, and community outreach.
- Manage volunteer schedule
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and positive volunteer culture.
- Ensure all required documentation, training, confidentiality agreements, and compliance requirements are completed.
- Provide ongoing coaching, support, and communication to volunteers in a professional and collaborative manner.
- Coordinate volunteer appreciation and recognition initiatives.
- Guide the development of goals and objectives for the services within volunteer services and spiritual care to ensure alignment with hospital priorities and initiatives.
- Evaluate volunteer services and identify opportunities for growth and continuous improvement.
- Develop policies, procedures, and best practices for volunteer management.
- Monitor program metrics and prepare reports on recruitment, retention, volunteer hours, and program outcomes.
- Assist with special projects and community engagement initiatives.

This is an on-site primarily office-based position at Ross Memorial Hospital in Lindsay, ON with frequent interaction throughout the hospital and community.

Essential Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Human Services or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience coordinating volunteers, employee engagement, customer service, community relations, or a related field.
- Experience working in healthcare, not-for-profit, or community organizations is considered an asset.
- Active membership within one or more relevant professional organizations
- Knowledge of volunteer management principles and best practices.
- Experience recruiting, interviewing, training, and supporting volunteers.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated expertise in program planning, development and evaluation.
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and volunteer management software.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Must have valid Driver's License and reliable vehicle.
- Must be able to fulfill the physical requirements of the job, as per the current Physical Demands Analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Volunteer Administration (CVA) is considered an asset.
- Professional Association of Volunteer Leaders – Ontario (PAVRO) Certification
- Experience planning volunteer recognition events and engagement initiatives.
- Experience working with seniors, youth volunteers, or healthcare volunteers.
- Knowledge of accessibility and inclusion principles.
Hours of Work
Flex hour policy in place to maintain 37.5 hours/week. Primarily Monday to Friday days with occasional evening and weekend work required to support volunteer events, community activities. and recruitment events.
