Job Posting Title: Site Superintendent
Job Description:
Do you want to be part of a high-performing team that builds exceptional rental communities across Canada? At Traine and Mainline Living, we are passionate about continuous improvement, professional development, and giving back to the communities we serve.
Traine is looking for an experienced Site Superintendent to take the lead on our wood-frame multifamily projects, from excavation through to building handover. If you thrive on solving problems in the field, know how to run a tight, safe site, and can rally trade partners around a schedule, we want to hear from you.
As Site Superintendent, you'll own all construction activity on site — supervising crews, enforcing safety and quality standards, and coordinating trades, suppliers, and city officials to keep the project moving. You'll work closely with the Project Manager on schedule, budget, and procurement, and act as the day-to-day decision-maker in the field.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all on-site activity, ensuring the project is built safely, on time, and efficiently
- Manage site information flow — RFIs, ASIs, SSIs, ESIs, MSIs, and related documentation
- Collaborate with the project manager, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders on project specs
- Build strong working relationships with City Officials and other external parties
- Chair weekly trade meetings and support monthly site meetings with the development team
- Create, monitor, and maintain the project schedule and lookahead schedules with the PM
- Support monthly budget updates and track job costs
- Review blueprints, shop drawings, and construction documents to catch conflicts early
- Coordinate and supervise trade partners, suppliers, and vendors
- Conduct regular site walkthroughs to confirm work meets drawings, code, and Traine standards
- Set up the job site office and track rented and company-owned equipment
- Mentor field staff and manage assistant supers, foremen, and site safety personnel
- Code and complete timesheets and purchase orders on schedule
- Implement and enforce OH&S and Traine's Health and Safety Program
- Maintain daily logs, progress photos, and safety inspection reports
- Order materials, schedule inspections, and coordinate offsite utilities
- Keep a clean, organized, and compliant multifamily job site from start to finish
Qualifications and Experience
- Gold Seal Certification is considered a strong asset (or in the process of achieving your Gold Seal Certification)
- Red Seal Ticket in Carpentry considered an asset
- First Aid ticket considered an asset
- 2+ completed wood-frame multifamily projects (4–6 storeys over a concrete parkade), start to finish
- Experience with multi-building, phased-occupancy projects
- Strong ability to read plans, specs, details, sections, elevations, and shop drawings
- Proven leadership, delegation, planning, and trade-partner management skills
- A safety-first mindset and sharp attention to detail
- Proficiency with MS Project, Word, Excel, Bluebeam, and Procore
- Solid grasp of construction disciplines, safety regulations, scheduling, and cost/quality control
- A professional, personable approach with trades, consultants, and stakeholders
- A valid, unrestricted driver's license
In return for your hard work and dedication, you will be rewarded with a very competitive salary (based on experience) and a full range of benefits, including:
