About Elin Pilates
Elin Pilates is a premium boutique Pilates studio in Royal Vista, NW Calgary. We specialize in highly personalized Solo, Duo, private-group, and public group instruction using Reformer, Chair, Spring Wall, and Mat equipment.
Our group classes are intentionally limited to five clients so instructors can closely observe each person, provide meaningful corrections, and adapt the class when necessary. Our approach is supportive and welcoming, but also focused, purposeful, and results-driven.
We are looking for an instructor who takes pride in teaching well—not simply leading clients through a sequence.
The Opportunity
We are hiring a certified Pilates instructor to teach small-group classes and potentially Solo, Duo, and private-group sessions.
This role is best suited to an instructor who can confidently manage different bodies and experience levels while maintaining strong class flow, clear cueing, safe progressions, and an appropriate level of challenge.
Because Elin Pilates is still growing, we want to be transparent that the position may begin with a limited number of weekly classes. Additional teaching opportunities will depend on availability, client demand, performance, reliability, and the instructor’s ability to build strong relationships with clients.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- Teach engaging and well-structured Reformer & Chair and Spring Wall & Mat classes for up to five clients.
- Deliver complete classes with a clear warm-up, purposeful progression, balanced programming, and cool-down.
- Provide concise verbal cues, visual demonstrations, and hands-on corrections when appropriate.
- Observe clients closely and make real-time modifications based on ability, discomfort, injuries, mobility restrictions, pregnancy, or other relevant considerations.
- Maintain class flow while still giving clients individualized attention.
- Create sessions that are challenging, safe, and appropriate rather than relying on one routine for every group.
- Prepare for each class and arrive early enough to organize equipment and welcome clients.
- Build professional and encouraging relationships that help clients remain consistent.
- Communicate promptly regarding scheduling, client concerns, equipment issues, and anything that may affect a session.
- Reset and maintain the teaching space and equipment after each class.
- Follow Elin Pilates policies, programming standards, and client-service expectations.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must have:
- A current and verifiable Pilates certification from a recognized training organization.
- Formal training and practical teaching ability on the Reformer.
- The ability to confidently program and teach using the Chair, Spring Wall or Tower, and Mat.
- A strong understanding of anatomy, alignment, contraindications, progressions, and modifications.
- Professional teaching experience in private sessions, group classes, or both.
- Clear verbal communication and the confidence to lead a room.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to work consistently from our Calgary studio.
- Professional liability insurance or the ability to obtain it before beginning work.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain it before beginning work.

Certification matters, but it is not the only factor we consider. During the interview and teaching demonstration, we will evaluate:
- Cueing clarity and accuracy
- Exercise selection and sequencing
- Class flow and transitions
- Equipment knowledge and safety
- Ability to observe and correct alignment
- Modifications and progressions
- Confidence and presence
- Appropriate pacing and intensity
- Professionalism, preparation, and coachability
- Overall fit with the Elin Pilates client experience
Selected candidates will be asked to prepare a 20–25-minute teaching sequence incorporating the Reformer, Chair, Spring Wall, and Mat, progressing from warm-up through cool-down.

- You understand that earning more classes requires consistency, client trust, and demonstrated performance.
Korean-speaking ability is considered an asset but is not required.
Availability
We are particularly interested in instructors who can consistently teach during one or more of the following periods:
- Early weekday mornings
- Weekday evenings
- Saturdays

Elin Pilates is closed on Sundays.
Compensation
Compensation ranges from $30 to $45 per teaching hour and will be determined based on:
- Certification level
- Teaching experience
- Equipment competency
- Private and group teaching ability
- Specialized training
- Language skills
- Teaching demonstration
- Reliability and ongoing performance
This is an independent-contractor position. The role may begin with a small number of weekly teaching hours, with the opportunity to add classes and private clients as the schedule grows.
