Production Technician / Mechanical Assembler
We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Assembler to join our team at Napier-Reid. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assembling mechanical components, reading blueprints, and utilizing hand tools to fabricate and assemble products. This is a full-time position that requires mechanical knowledge and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
This position interprets the manufacturing information documents in order to mechanically assemble, fit and install prefabricated parts or modify basic components, sub-assemblies and structures using hand and power tools for the site's product lines.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Read and interpret basic blueprint drawings to produce quality products.
- Assemble components utilizing presses, power tools and other common hand tools in the performance of daily production activities.
- Use and read a tape measure down to 1/16” accuracy.
- Work safely and efficiently to complete production requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of production and input correct quantities into the computer.
- Properly use primer and pvc glue for solvent welding of assemblies.
- Perform regular quality checks on finished parts and identify anything that does not meet our quality standards.
- Reading BOM’s and verifying the correct part assembly.
- Perform 5s and kaizen events as required.
- Forklift operations will be required in some areas.
- Accurately count and record raw and finished goods.
Skills & Experience
- Previous manufacturing, assembly or construction experience required.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings or bill of materials.
- Welding, plumbing, and electrical wiring experience is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Lift up to 50lbs without assistance.
- Strong team collaboration and great communication skills.
Qualifications
- 2-3 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Completed High School diploma or equivalency.
- Currently have a forklift ticket, or the desire to learn and drive occasionally when required.
- Ability to manage time, multitask quickly and have a high level of organization.
- Excellent team player and willing to assist other team members in the completion of their duties.
- Good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Comfortable with computers and performing occasional data entry as required.
- Ability to cooperate with other employees ensuring a cohesive and efficient shop environment.
- Valid Driver’s license.
