POSITION SUMMARY:
The Security Lead provides frontline leadership for evening security operations at SIHLRC and helps maintain
a safe, respectful, and non-institutional environment for relatives, staff, and visitors. This role oversees access
control, incident response, documentation, and shift coordination using trauma-informed and de-escalation-
focused practice. The position balances safety, accountability, and dignity while supporting overall operational
readiness.

approach, including Siksikaitsitapi teachings, Blackfoot cultural values, trauma‑informed practice, harm
reduction, and Recovery-Oriented Systems of Care (ROSC)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties include but are not limited to:
1. Lead weekday evening security operations, access control, and site monitoring.
2. Respond to incidents using calm, trauma-informed, and de-escalation-focused practice.
3. Maintain accurate logs, incident documentation, and security communication.
4. Support safety protocols, emergency response readiness, and coordination with external responders when
required.
5. Provide direction, coaching, and shift support to security staff as needed.
6. Monitor keys, credentials, restricted areas, and visitor access processes.
7. Help ensure security approaches remain respectful, culturally safe, and aligned with recovery-oriented
operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Knowledge of access control, incident response, emergency procedures, and documentation.
- Skill in de-escalation, observation, and professional response under pressure.
- Ability to support trauma-informed and recovery-oriented security practice.
- Strong communication and leadership skills on an active shift.
- Ability to maintain safety while protecting dignity and relational trust.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent community-based and cultural experience.
Minimum two years of security experience in healthcare, residential, community, or comparable settings.
Professional Designation/Certification/Licenses:
Alberta security guard licence, or ability to obtain and maintain it.
First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe
Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check prior to employment.
Other:
Requires general knowledge of the Siksika Nation culture and some ability to communicate in the Siksika language.
