Upper Richmond Optometry and Elevate Eyes & Medical Esthetics is looking for a motivated, professional, and patient-focused Medical Esthetician / Optometric Assistant to join our growing team.
This is a unique hybrid role for someone who is excited to work in both an advanced optometric clinic and a medical aesthetics environment. The ideal candidate is comfortable supporting day-to-day patient care in an optometry setting, while also developing and performing dry eye and aesthetic procedures using advanced technology.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships with patients, has a strong interest in medical aesthetics, and is eager to grow with a clinic that is expanding its dry eye, ocular aesthetics, and skin treatment services.
Key Responsibilities
Optometric Assistant Duties
As part of the optometric clinic team, you will support doctors and patients throughout the clinical journey. Responsibilities may include:
Greeting and preparing patients for their appointments
Performing preliminary testing and diagnostic imaging
Assisting with patient flow and clinic efficiency
Supporting optometrists during dry eye, specialty contact lens, and ocular disease visits
Educating patients on recommended treatments, products, and follow-up care
Maintaining accurate documentation in the patient record
Helping keep exam rooms, testing areas, and treatment spaces clean, organized, and ready for use
Providing a high level of patient service and professionalism at all times
Dry Eye & Ocular Aesthetics Procedures
The successful candidate will be trained to assist with and perform dry eye and ocular aesthetic treatments, which may include:
IPL treatments for dry eye and periocular inflammation
Radiofrequency treatments
Lid hygiene and in-office dry eye procedures
Patient education around dry eye treatment plans, maintenance therapy, and home care
Pre- and post-treatment photography and documentation
Supporting doctors in the delivery of advanced dry eye care
Medical Aesthetic Procedures
This role will also involve performing or assisting with aesthetic procedures, depending on training, experience, and clinic protocols. Treatments may include:
IPL skin treatments
Cutera YAG treatments
NeoGen plasma treatments
Plexr plasma treatments
Microneedling RF
Chemical peels
Facials and skin care treatments
Pre- and post-treatment consultations and education
Treatment planning support and patient follow-up
Maintaining treatment rooms, supplies, and equipment according to clinic standards
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will be:
A certified or experienced Medical Esthetician, preferably with experience in a medical or clinical setting
Interested in both eye care and medical aesthetics
Comfortable learning new technologies, procedures, and clinical workflows
Professional, warm, and confident when interacting with patients
Detail-oriented and committed to accurate documentation
Comfortable discussing treatment plans, fees, and maintenance care with patients
A strong communicator who works well with doctors, clinic staff, and patients
Reliable, organized, and able to manage a varied daily schedule
Excited to be part of a growing dry eye and aesthetics program
Preferred Qualifications
Medical aesthetics training or certification
Experience with IPL, radiofrequency, microneedling, peels, facials, or laser-based treatments
Previous experience in optometry, ophthalmology, dermatology, medical aesthetics, or another healthcare setting
Comfort with patient education and treatment plan discussions
Experience with clinical photography, EMR systems, or diagnostic equipment is an asset
Strong interest in dry eye disease, skin health, and ocular aesthetics
Training Provided

Optometric assistant workflows
Pre-testing and diagnostic imaging
Dry eye treatment protocols
IPL and radiofrequency procedures
Device-specific training for aesthetic technologies
Patient consultation and education processes
Clinic documentation and safety protocols
