Full-Time Optometric Assistant / Optical Associate
Our busy, well-established optometric practice in downtown Cobourg is looking for a friendly, motivated individual to join our team in a full-time role.
We are a family-oriented practice committed to providing exceptional eye care in a welcoming, comfortable, and compassionate environment. Our clinic offers a full range of optometric services, including comprehensive eye examinations, contact lens fittings, visual field testing, OCT imaging, fundus photography, and a full-service optical dispensary.
Office Hours
- Monday to Thursday: 8:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
- Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
What You'll Do
As a valued member of our team, your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting patients with selecting frames and lenses that best suit their vision, lifestyle, and personal style
- Taking optical measurements and entering eyeglass and contact lens orders into our electronic medical records system
- Verifying prescription eyewear and notifying patients when their orders are ready
- Dispensing, adjusting, repairing, and fitting eyewear
- Educating patients on the proper use and care of their new eyewear
- Addressing patient questions and concerns with professionalism and care
- Supporting bookkeeping, account management, and inventory control
- Performing general reception duties, including scheduling appointments, answering phones, processing payments, and invoicing
- Assisting with pre-testing procedures such as OCT, Humphrey Visual Fields, and lensometry
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming reception and dispensary area
- Delivering outstanding customer service with every patient interaction

Qualifications
Experience as an Optometric Assistant or in an eye care setting—particularly with optical sales and dispensing—is considered an asset. However, we are happy to train the right candidate who brings enthusiasm, a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn.
Experience with social media platforms and Canva is also an asset.
Compensation
Compensation is competitive and will be based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
