At Ericsson, we are building the next generation of Cloud Native, carrier-grade 5G core network solutions. As a Software Developer – Core User Plane as a Service, you will join a seasoned and highly collaborative User Plane development team responsible for delivering scalable, resilient, and high-performance user-plane functions on hyperscale cloud platforms.
Working alongside experienced engineers and technical experts, you will help accelerate the delivery of new user-plane capabilities, improve system performance and reliability, and solve complex networking and scalability challenges. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge Cloud Native 5G solutions, contribute to large-scale production systems, and grow your expertise within Ericsson’s strong learning and innovation culture.
What you will do

Design, develop, and maintain Cloud Native user-plane services for 5G Core networks.

Build and enhance high-performance networking software running on public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

Develop and optimize packet processing functions using technologies such as DPDK.

Deliver scalable microservices using Docker and Kubernetes.
-
Own services end-to-end, including development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and operational support.

Collaborate with software architects, developers, and cross-functional teams to improve system performance, resiliency, and scalability.

Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automation using modern DevOps practices and tools.

Troubleshoot complex networking and cloud infrastructure issues in production environments.

Drive continuous improvement in software quality, test coverage, and operational excellence.
The skills you bring:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Strong software development experience using C, C++, Go, or similar systems programming languages.
-
Solid Linux development and troubleshooting skills.
-
Good understanding of TCP/IP networking, routing, and network protocols.

Experience with high-performance packet processing technologies such as DPDK
-
Experience building Cloud Native applications and microservices.

Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized environments.

Experience working with public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, Cloud Build, or similar.

Experience working with REST and/or gRPC APIs.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
Nice to Have

Experience with cloud-based databases and distributed systems.

Knowledge of observability and monitoring tools.

Experience in telecommunications, 5G Core, or cloud-native networking solutions.

Exposure to large-scale production environments and carrier-grade systems.

Your Pay
The salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, and the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
The salary range for this position is
- Ottawa: $101,500CAD- $ 133,350CAD
Short-Term Variable Compensation Plan: Your pay also includes the opportunity for an annual bonus. Actual bonus payouts are based on performance of the business against the unit’s objectives, individual performance, and the individual bonus target. Certain eligibility and pro-ration rules apply.

Your Financial Security
We invest in both your short and long-term financial wellbeing. Ericsson’s Group Retirement & Savings Program offers an automatic 2% company contribution into the Pension Plan. Ericsson also offers a 50% match of employee’s contribution into the Registered Retirement Savings Plan, up to 8% of the employee’s contribution (maximum of 4% match). This leads to a total company contribution potential of 6%. Employees will also basic life insurance and basic accidental death and dismemberment coverage at two-times annual base pay at no cost, as well as short-term disability coverage. Employees also have the option to participate in Ericsson’s Stock Purchase Plan.
Your Time
Your work-life balance is important to us. New employees are provided a minimum of 18 days of accrued vacation, at least 3personal days, minimum 10 holidays, 1 volunteer day, and sick days. Please note paid time off is pro-rated based on the employee’s start date. Furthermore, Ericsson provides up to 10 weeks of paid maternity leave and 6 weeks of parental or adoption leave at 100% of pay.
