At Intelbyte, you will have the opportunity to shape your career in a way that is as unique as your strengths. You will join a team that values your voice, your ideas, and your drive to make an impact. We are building a team of innovators, problem-solvers, and doers who care about delivering excellence and growing together.
Role Overview
Intelbyte is looking for an Intermediate AI Developer to build the AI-enabled applications our clients run their operations on. AI is the centre of this role, not a feature at the edge of it: agents that read documents and draft the output, retrieval over client data, classification and extraction wired into workflows people use every shift.
You will deliver that work on whichever surface fits the problem. Some solutions ship fastest on the Microsoft Power Platform. Others need a custom application on Azure with a real front end and a real backend. Choosing correctly, then building it properly, is the job.
This is a step up from assisting. You will own features end to end, make architectural calls with senior support rather than senior supervision, and help the developers coming up behind you.
Key Responsibilities
AI Engineering
- Design and ship AI features into production: document processing, retrieval over client data, extraction, classification, summarization, and drafting.
- Build agents and conversational solutions with Copilot Studio, Azure AI Services, and Anthropic's Claude.
- Integrate models through APIs and custom connectors, and handle the unglamorous parts: cost, latency, failure modes, and what happens when the model is wrong.
- Evaluate output quality deliberately. Define what "good" means for a feature, test against it, and verify before a client sees it.
- Advise clients on where AI belongs in their process and where a query, a rule, or a form is the better answer.
Application Development
- Build custom applications on Azure: React and TypeScript front ends, APIs and services behind them.
- Build on the Power Platform where it ships fastest: Canvas and Model-Driven Power Apps, Power Apps code apps, Power Automate, and Dataverse.
- Design data models and integrations across SharePoint, SQL, and line-of-business systems that were never built to be integrated with.
- Own quality: testing, error handling, performance, and security inside client governance and ALM.
Client Engagement
- Work directly with stakeholders to understand business processes and gather requirements.
- Present prototypes and demos, and explain the trade-offs behind them to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Keep clients informed through delivery, and raise scope or risk changes early.
Project Delivery & Support
- Work in agile teams and deliver against sprint goals.
- Run ALM properly: solution packaging, version control, environment management, and deployment pipelines.
- Write the documentation and training material that lets a client operate the solution without you.
- Monitor and improve what you shipped based on real usage.
- You will also contribute to cloud data and analytics work, designing solutions that integrate with Azure services such as Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Databricks, building and maintaining data pipelines, connecting enterprise data sources, and surfacing insights through Power BI.
Requirements
- 4 to 6 years building and shipping software professionally.
- Practical AI development experience: model APIs, retrieval, prompt iteration, and verifying output before it reaches a user. Personal projects count if the work is real.
- Strong in at least one modern stack (TypeScript and React, C# and .NET, or Python), and able to learn the others.
- Hands-on Power Platform delivery with Power Apps, Power Automate, and Dataverse, or clear evidence that you learn new platforms quickly.
- SQL and data modelling that holds up against real client data.
- Comfortable developing with AI assistants daily, and reviewing what they produce rather than trusting it.
- Able to explain a technical decision to a client who does not want a technical answer.
- Strong communication skills and experience in client-facing or consulting environments.
- Based in Calgary, or relocating.
- Hybrid, 4 days on site
Nice to Have
- Copilot Studio, Azure AI Services, or Azure OpenAI Service in production.
- Agent frameworks, MCP, RAG pipelines, or evaluation harnesses.
- Power BI, Azure Data Factory, or Databricks.
- Microsoft certifications such as PL-400, PL-600, or AZ-204, or the shipped work that stands in for them.
- Azure DevOps, CoE practices, custom connectors, and advanced Power Automate logic.
- Experience in regulated industries: energy, utilities, construction, or government.
- Familiarity with governance and compliance frameworks for low-code platforms and AI solutions.
