We are now looking for a motivated Pastry Chef Assistant / Pastry Cook to work directly alongside our highly experienced veteran Pastry Chef.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants more than just another kitchen job. The successful candidate will receive hands-on mentorship, develop advanced pastry skills and become an important part of a professional and growing culinary team.
The Opportunity
You will assist with the daily production of pastries, desserts, baked goods and specialty items for a wide variety of catered events.
You do not need to know everything when you start. We are looking for someone with a strong foundation, a genuine interest in pastry and the right attitude to learn.
The ideal person is dependable, organized, humble and proud of their work. You should be comfortable receiving direction, asking questions and improving your skills under the guidance of an experienced Pastry Chef.

Responsibilities
- Assist the Pastry Chef with daily pastry, dessert and baking production
- Prepare cakes, cookies, squares, tarts, pastries and plated or individual desserts
- Accurately follow recipes, production sheets and presentation standards
- Measure, mix, portion, bake, decorate and package products
- Assist with custom desserts and specialty items for corporate and private events
- Complete production efficiently while maintaining consistency and attention to detail
- Help organize ingredients, equipment and daily production requirements
- Monitor product quality, freshness and presentation
- Properly label, store and rotate ingredients and finished products
- Maintain a clean, organized and food-safe pastry area
- Assist with receiving and checking pastry ingredients and supplies
- Communicate clearly with the Pastry Chef and wider culinary team
- Support other kitchen areas when required
- Contribute ideas as skills and confidence develop

Qualifications
- Previous pastry, baking or professional kitchen experience is preferred
- Culinary or pastry-school education is an asset but not required
- Basic knowledge of baking methods, ingredients and kitchen equipment
- FoodSafe Level 1 certification, or willingness to obtain it
- Ability to safely lift and carry ingredients, trays and kitchen equipment
- Ability to stand and work actively throughout the shift
- Availability for early-morning shifts when required
- Reliable transportation to our Vancouver production kitchen
