SKY Modular is an Ontario-based modular construction manufacturer specializing in factory-built homes, apartment buildings, hotels and workforce housing.
We are looking for an experienced accounting professional to become one of the company's first management team members. This is a unique opportunity to build the finance, accounting and procurement functions from the ground up while working directly with the company's founder and senior leadership.

Responsibilities
- Manage procurement processes by sourcing suppliers, negotiating pricing, and securing favorable terms to support manufacturing needs.
- Oversee vendor management activities, maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Utilize ERP systems such as SAP to process purchase orders, track inventory levels through MRP (Material Requirements Planning), and monitor supply chain performance.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to align procurement strategies with production schedules and demand forecasts.
- Conduct market research to identify new sourcing opportunities and stay informed on industry trends affecting pricing and supply chain stability.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of purchasing requests while maintaining comprehensive procurement records.
- Collaborate with finance teams to manage budgets, analyze costs, and optimize procurement expenses across departments.

Primary Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Management
- Full-cycle bookkeeping
- Accounts payable and receivable
- Payroll administration
- HST filings
- Bank and credit card reconciliations
- Monthly and year-end financial reporting
- Preparing financial reports for management
- Cash flow forecasting and monitoring
- Budget preparation and variance analysis
- Job costing for modular construction projects

- Working with external accountants and auditors
Estimating & Cost Control
- Preparing and updating construction estimates
- Material cost analysis
- Labour cost tracking
- Maintaining estimating databases
- Monitoring project budgets and profitability
- Assisting with tender pricing and cost analysis
Procurement & Supply Chain
- Preparing purchase orders
- Sourcing suppliers and obtaining quotations
- Negotiating pricing and delivery schedules

Business Operations

Minimum Qualifications Required
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting and bookkeeping experience
- Experience in the construction, modular construction, manufacturing or building materials industry is strongly preferred
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field
- Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial reporting
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and HST filings
- Experience preparing month-end reports and bank reconciliations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as QuickBooks Online or similar
- Strong analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently in a hybrid work environment
- Valid Ontario driver's licence and access to a vehicle for weekly meetings in Barrie and Ramara
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with construction job costing, project accounting or manufacturing accounting
- Experience preparing project budgets, estimates and cash flow forecasts
- Procurement or purchasing experience, including supplier negotiations and purchase order management
- Knowledge of inventory management and cost control
- Experience supporting construction financing or lender reporting
- Working toward or interested in pursuing a CPA designation is considered an asset but is not required
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to grow into a senior leadership position
Compensation & Incentives
We are looking for someone who wants to grow with the company rather than simply fill a position.
Our compensation package includes:
- Starting salary from $50,000 per year (based on experience)
- Annual performance and salary reviews

- Eligibility to participate in the company's Stock Option Plan after 12–18 months of successful employment (subject to plan terms and board approval)

Work Arrangement
- Primarily remote
- Weekly in-person meetings in Barrie and Ramara, Ontario
- Occasional visits to suppliers, manufacturing facilities and project sites as required
