Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain pricing and renewal rate setting models used in the management of non-guaranteed elements on existing in-force contracts and to generate proposals on new business flow arrangements
- Contribute to the bi-weekly and monthly rate setting and reporting processes, including the development of pricing projections, quantitative analysis, rate recommendations, and MD&A
- Establish and deepen relationships with clients through frequent engagement and regular touchpoints; assist in the development value-added services and support the sourcing and marketing of flow reinsurance solutions
- Be part of corporate development deal team in its efforts to diligence, structure and underwrite flow reinsurance opportunities; contribute to the construction of technical models and analysis in support of the pricing process for block reinsurance and legal entity transactions
- Assist in the evaluation and modeling of transactions by combining technical understanding of financial / regulatory concepts with creative problem solving
- Contribute to coordination of workflow with external advisors and internal resources to ensure efficient deal processes and project management
- Participate in deal discussions and gain familiarity with transaction agreements
- Prepare presentation materials for meeting with executive management, investment committees, board, investors, financing providers, rating agencies, and regulators
- Work with financial reporting, valuation, and risk management teams during diligence and upon completion of transactions to support the onboarding process
- Take initiative to gain deeper understanding of target products, industry trends, and competitive landscape to help guide decision making and strategic initiatives; stay current on regulatory developments in all relevant jurisdictions
- Fulfill other roles and responsibilities as required to support growth and evolution of overall enterprise
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, or related field
- At least 5 years of work experience in insurance or finance, with expertise in financial modeling, liability management, and investments; pricing or rate setting experience with life and annuity products is considered a strong asset
- Superior technical skills and strong attention to detail for the purposes of building models, improving processes, and solving complex problems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with various stakeholders at all levels within the organization as well as external partners
- Self-reliant and capable of quickly learning new concepts, thinking creatively and critically, agile and adaptable to changing needs and challenges of a rapidly growing company, results-oriented and able to work under tight deadlines and demanding conditions
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint; experience with Moody’s GGY AXIS is considered a strong asset
- Ability to travel when required
Compensation:
This range represents the minimum and maximum annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay for this role at the time of posting. The actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range. The base pay is based on factors including but not limited to experience, competence, and demonstration of proficiencies essential for the role. The base pay is just one component of Talcott’s total annual compensation for employees. Other compensation may include annual bonuses, long-term incentives and recognition.
