Growth & Operations Manager
Plus Credit is an early stage ethical fintech company based in Calgary. We’re building what we believe is Canada’s first credit company designed not to make money from charging customers interest.
Our goal is to create fair and transparent financial products that help Canadians access and build credit without relying on the traditional interest based model.
We’ll be upfront. This is a startup. Some weeks are messy, priorities change, and you may need to take on things that are outside your usual responsibilities. There is no large corporate team to hand problems off to.
That environment is not for everyone, and that’s okay.
But if you want to work somewhere where your ideas matter and your work can directly move the company forward, this could be a great fit.
You’ll work directly with the founder and be involved in growth, operations, partnerships and important business decisions. We also offer profit sharing because we believe the people helping build the company should benefit from its success.
Our culture is simple. If the company grows, you grow with it.
We’re looking for someone with a real business mindset. Someone who thinks about how the company can grow, bring in customers and make money, not just what is on their daily to do list.
The role
You’ll join Plus Credit as our Growth & Operations Manager.
Part of the role will focus on growth, including bringing in new customers, building partnerships, finding new opportunities and helping us reach markets we have not entered yet.
The other part will focus on operations, including keeping projects moving, improving processes, coordinating the team and making sure the company runs properly as it grows.
You’ll work closely with the founder on both sides of the business.
You do not need to know everything about fintech on your first day. We do expect you to be organized, commercially minded and comfortable figuring things out without always having a manual.
What you’ll actually do
- Build and carry out plans to bring in new customers and revenue
- Find new customer segments, business opportunities and partnership channels
- Build and manage sales and partnership relationships
- Look at the customer journey and identify where people are dropping off
- Work with the team to improve customer conversion, activation and retention
- Keep daily operations running properly and fix problems when they come up
- Manage projects from start to finish and make sure deadlines are met
- Coordinate with team members, agencies, developers and outside partners
- Improve processes that are slowing the company down or creating unnecessary work
- Help guide and mentor team members as the company grows
- Set goals with the founder, track the numbers and take responsibility for the results
What we’re looking for
- Experience in sales, business development, growth or business operations
- A track record of hitting targets and the ability to explain how you achieved them
- Experience managing projects and handling several priorities at the same time
- Some experience leading, supervising or coordinating people
- Strong communication skills and good judgment
- Someone who takes ownership and does not need to be constantly followed up with
- Someone who is comfortable working in a startup where not every process has already been created
- Experience in fintech, financial services or another regulated industry is helpful, but not required
- Lean or Six Sigma experience is a bonus
We care more about what you have accomplished than what your previous job title was.
What success looks like
- You understand our customer journey and identify the biggest areas where customers are dropping off
- You help create and test new ways to bring in customers and revenue
- You build new partnership opportunities and help turn them into real business
- Projects move forward without the founder needing to chase everyone
- The team becomes more organized and accountable
- You track results, explain what is working and make changes when something is not working
