Matrix HR is hiring Implementation Technicians on behalf of a leading Canadian provider of technology deployment, network infrastructure and field support services.

As a Matrix HR employee, you will support technology installations for major retail, commercial, enterprise and financial organizations.
Compensation and Project Details
- Pay: $25.00–$30.00 per hour
- Per Diem: $42 per day for eligible out-of-town work
- Mileage: $0.60 per kilometre when using a personal vehicle
- Start Date: Early September 2026
- Duration: Minimum four to five months
- Schedule: Full-time, with flexible shifts based on project requirements
- Travel: Regular regional and out-of-town travel required
The first and last 30 minutes of travel time and the first and last 50 kilometres of travel are considered regular commuting time and are not compensated.
Responsibilities
As an Implementation Technician, you will install, configure, test and troubleshoot technology infrastructure in commercial and retail environments.
Responsibilities include:
- Install Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, fibre-optic and coaxial cabling
- Complete cable routing, fishing, dressing, termination and cross-connects
- Test and certify installed cabling
- Install and configure switches, routers and servers
- Install wireless access points
- Install POS systems, printers and security devices
- Diagnose cabling, hardware and basic network issues
- Conduct site assessments and pre-installation checks
- Read work orders, technical drawings, network diagrams and scope documents
- Commission equipment and verify connectivity and functionality
- Communicate professionally with customers, store personnel and project teams
- Complete daily reports, work logs and installation documentation
- Operate Elevated Work Platforms, including scissor lifts and boom lifts
- Follow all PPE, Working at Heights and site-safety requirements
- Work days, evenings, nights, weekends or after hours as required
Qualifications
We are seeking candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Structured cabling
- Data cabling
- Fibre-optic installation
- Telecommunications
- Low-voltage systems
- Network infrastructure
- IT hardware installation
- POS installations
- Field service
- Commercial technology installations
- Retail technology deployments
Experience with the following equipment is considered an asset:
- Network switches
- Routers
- Cisco equipment
- Wireless access points
- Security systems
- Commercial network and communications equipment
Requirements
- Previous structured cabling, network installation or related field-service experience
- Basic network troubleshooting skills
- Ability to use hand and power tools
- Ability to read technical drawings, schematics and work orders
- Valid full driver’s licence issued by your province of residence
- Clean driver’s abstract
- Reliable personal vehicle
- Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned region
- Ability to remain out of town when required
- Availability for flexible shifts, including evenings, nights and weekends
- Working at Heights or Fall Protection certification, or willingness to obtain it
- Elevated Work Platform certification, or willingness to obtain it
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Comfort working at heights and in active retail environments
- Strong communication and customer-service skills
- Ability to work independently and complete accurate documentation
