Position Overview
We are looking for an innovative, creative, and experienced Automation Engineer with a strong background in Mechatronics, Robotics, Automation, or Control Systems Engineering. The ideal candidate is organized, efficient, hands-on, and capable of solving complex automation challenges with practical, reliable, and cost-effective solutions.
The successful candidate will work closely with customers, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams to design, program, integrate, test, and commission custom automation and robotic systems. Strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for continuous learning are essential.
Key Responsibilities
Automation & Controls
- Design, develop, and program machine control systems using PLC and HMI platforms to create customized customer solutions.
- Program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC, HMI, servo, motion control, and robotic systems.
- Develop and maintain automation software for custom machinery and production systems.
Robotics Integration
- Program and integrate industrial robots and cobots, including:
- ABB
- FANUC
- Motoman/Yaskawa
- Other leading robotic platforms
- Simulate robotic motion, optimize cycle times, and validate performance targets.
- Test and debug robotic and automation systems in-house to achieve Run-at-Rate requirements.
System Design & Engineering
- Create Bills of Materials (BOMs) and specify automation components, including:
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Servo drives and motors
- Power supplies
- Sensors and switches
- Pneumatic components
- Safety devices and control hardware
- Evaluate automation challenges and develop optimized solutions that balance performance, cost, and lead time.
- Coordinate with customers, suppliers, and internal teams throughout project execution.
Technical Support
- Provide on-site and remote support for installations, troubleshooting, upgrades, and system optimization.
- Support customers with software modifications, debugging, and technical issue resolution.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Diploma or Degree in:
- Mechatronics Engineering
- Robotics Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Control Systems Engineering
- Automation Engineering
- Or a related technical discipline
Experience
- Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in industrial automation and controls.
- Proven experience programming and troubleshooting:
- Omron PLC/HMI
- Allen-Bradley (Rockwell) PLC/HMI
- Siemens PLC/HMI
- Other major automation platforms
- Extensive experience programming and integrating industrial robots and cobots.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of:
- Industrial automation systems
- Motion control
- Servo systems
- Machine safety
- Electrical controls
- Industrial networking
- System commissioning and troubleshooting
- Experience with:
- Machine vision systems
- Laser sensors
- Capacitive sensors
- Inspection systems
- Advanced sensing technologies
Preferred Qualifications (Assets)
- Experience with electrical panel design, panel wiring, fixture wiring, and pneumatic systems.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical or similar electrical design software.
- Experience using SolidWorks.
- Knowledge of Industry 4.0, IIoT, AI, and data acquisition systems.
- Experience in custom machine building and manufacturing automation.

Pay: $60,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
