Job Status: Full Time, Contract, Salaried
Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm
Work Location: Hybrid (Onsite 1-2 times per week, Saulter Street)
Compensation: $70,000 to $75,000 per year, dependant on experience + Eligible for a completion bonus upon successful completion of the contract

The Position
The Human Resources (HR) Generalist is energized by employee engagement and talent management. This position is responsible for day-to-day HR administration, recruitment & selection, employee onboarding, employee relations, and the coordination and tracking of training systems across the organization in addition to assisting with the design and implementation of various HR programs and initiatives.
This position requires someone with a proactive and positive attitude and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously. In addition to possessing good judgment and developed problem solving skills, the HR Generalist must possess a high degree of initiative and exercise discretion when handling details of a confidential and critical nature.
This position requires a team player with strong organizational skills, a desire to develop teams and individuals and to find ways to stretch employees to their highest potential. Above all, the HR Generalist will have a great sense of humour and the ability to interact professionally at all times with all employees.
Some of the things you’ll get paid to do:
Recruitment, Selection & Onboarding
- Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, including job postings, screening resumes, conducting interviews, reference checks, extending offers, and facilitating the hiring process
- Partner with the hiring manager to effectively attract, vet, and select the top candidate for each role
- If applicable, liaise with recruiters to help source candidates and explore subsidy opportunities if available
- Maintaining connections with local community employment agencies, attending relevant job fairs, and using recruitment channels to attract candidates (LinkedIn, Social media, etc.)
- Leading in the enhancement and facilitation of the employee onboarding process
Training, Development & Performance Management
- Assist in the maintenance of the Learning Management System, ensuring that all required training is assigned and completed as needed
- Coordinate and facilitate training initiatives across the organization to foster retraining, upskilling, and development
- Training employees on new processes and procedures related to their roles, HR processes, and how to use the HRIS
- Research and develop training programs that will encourage optimal employee and departmental performance
- Support managers with the design and facilitation of new training programs
- Assist with the development and tracking of the performance management program
- Make recommendations to managers on how to improve performance
Company Culture
- Leading the planning of company wide employee initiatives and events (i.e. employee recognition programs, team building events, lunch & learns)
- Drafting and compiling the employee monthly newsletter, “Fresh News”
- Leading and supporting HR special projects to improve engagement and development
- Developing and maintaining the employee culture hub
- Facilitate annual engagement and satisfaction surveys, analyze results, and prepare presentations
Employee Relations
- Handle employee relations matters, including resolving conflicts, conducting investigations, and implementing disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Provide guidance and support to employees and managers on HR-related issues, including but not limited to, employee relations, performance management, and compliance matters.
- Communicating and enforcing company policies listed in the Employee Handbook
- Research best practices in HR and recommend improvements to existing practices
- Cultivate positive employee relations through support and responses to HR inquiries
- Other HR administration tasks as required
HR Administration
- Prepare and manage employee records, databases, files, and confidential documents
- Use HR data tracking, reporting and analytics to track compliance, performance, training, and other HR metrics
- Providing support for the creation of employment letters and other correspondence
- Responding to employee inquires and record requests promptly
- Maintaining and administering our HR Information System
- Contribute to the upkeep of the Employee Handbook and company policies and procedures
- Administering the employee Offboarding and Exiting process
Legislation & Compliance
- Keep up-to-date with HR and Employment Standards legislation
- Ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements as outlined in OHSA, ESA, WSIA, OHRC, AODA, OFC and any other relevant legislation
- Maintaining privacy and confidentiality at all times
About You
Required Education & Experience
- 2-3 years of progressive work experience in a Human Resources Coordinator or Generalist role
- Minimum 2 year of recruitment experience
- Holding or working towards CHRP designation
- Knowledge of HR trends and best practices
- Previous exposure to the application and interpretation of workplace legislation (e.g., Employment Standards, Health and Safety, etc.) is an asset
- Experience working with HR related Information Management Systems (HRIS), specifically Dayforce, is an asset
- Strong proficiency in Google Suite & Microsoft Office
