West Parry Sound Health Centre (WPSHC) has always employed an innovative planning approach to integrate services. Faced with the challenges of rural care delivery, WPSHC has partnered in regional alliances and created internal programming solutions that have benefited patient care and improved services throughout the catchment area.

Today, our uniquely integrated healthcare organization includes: Lakeland Long Term Care, six Nursing Stations delivering care to rural communities, management of District ambulance services and dispatch, and a full range of in-patient and out-patient programs associated with a 90-bed acute care hospital.

About the Opportunity

We are currently looking for a Unit Clerk – Float. Reporting to the Manager of Admitting/Communications, the incumbent is responsible for providing clerical assistance to the Nursing Team in order to facilitate efficient and effective patient care.

Hours of work are 7.5 hour shifts, including weekends.

More About You

This opportunity is right for you if you strongly focus on patient and family-centred care and thrive in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment.

To qualify for the role, you must have successfully completed Grade 12 or equivalent with 1 year of medical clerical/secretarial experience. You will also need to have:

Completion of medical terminology certificate/program or an equivalent combination of training and experience;
Demonstrated strong knowledge of computer skills, particularly with scheduling software, and various computer applications related to healthcare programs;
Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills;
Strong interpersonal skills;
A demonstrated ability to provide strong attention to detail;
Excellent prioritization and organizational skills;
Demonstrated satisfactory attendance levels, work performance, disciplinary history, and positive work references
Successful completion of Unit/Ward Clerk Course or Medical Secretary Course or equivalent;
Previous hospital experience as a unit clerk or similar role;
Superior level of skill, ability, experience, and qualifications

About the Benefits

The successful candidate will receive $28.17 per hour to start. In addition, you can look forward to the following benefits:
