Your Opportunity:
This Registered Nurse position is within the Pacemaker/ICD Surgery OR setting in the CK Hui Heart Centre at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. This role focuses on the care of cardiac patients presenting for cardiac device implants/revisions, and EP procedures. Duties include but are not limited to; peri-operative nursing care within the Pacemaker/ICD OR setting (i.e. scrub and circulation duties); completion of cardiac device assessments/programming; monitoring, evaluating, and documenting patient condition and effectiveness of medical interventions; procedural sedation and medication administration; addressing patient concerns; and presenting clinical findings to physicians. The Pacemaker/ICD Surgery OR is part of a collective of Outpatient Clinics. The successful applicant is expected to work collaboratively within the team of registered nurses, cardiology technologists, physicians, clinical nurse educators, industry specialists, and other support staff and to participate in quality improvement initiatives at the front line to support and maintain high quality patient care. Excellent communication skills and personal initiative are required, as well as a commitment to a team approach and ongoing learning. Physical demands of the job include standing for extended periods of time while wearing lead, pushing/pulling/transporting more than 75 lbs on a regular basis, repetitive motions such as typing and phone usage, and lifting/bending/reaching. Experience working in a Pacemaker OR/EP lab and/or acute surgical suite, in addition to navigating the Connect Care framework, is a requirement. Strong knowledge base of the cardiovascular system and cardiac patient management is essential. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit holders will be paid $40.76 to $55.79 per hour. Upon obtaining a full practice permit, the rate of pay will be adjusted to the applicable Registered Nurse rate in accordance with UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii), as applicable.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification. Additional Required Qualifications:
CARNA registration and CPR - HCP level (Heart and Stroke Foundation) required and maintained throughout duration of employment. Connect Care proficiency Minimum of 2 years previous experience (within last 3 years) in an acute care setting required. (Surgical suites and/or Emergency Department experience will be recognized). Qualified applicants are required to have current perioperative nursing certification and/or EP lab experience > 6 months and meet the minimum previous experience requirements listed above. Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in a cardiac or surgical patient care unit an asset. Previous experience in a post anesthetic patient care unit an asset. Previous experience with pre and post cardiac device implant care an asset. Demonstrated reliability essential. Able to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
