(schedule is on a 5 on/2 off rotating DAYS basis, SUNDAYS ARE MANDATORY)

JOB SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Millwright will be responsible for performing maintenance activities to ensure a productive workforce that supports the plant. They will complete work orders to ensure the plant is maintained in a safe, reliable, and efficient manner.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, repair, and/or replace faulty equipment including motors and drives
- Read, follow, and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, technical instructions and manuals to determine and perform work procedures, required maintenance and service
- Determine and follow procedures for testing existing and newly installed machines and equipment to maximized output
- Troubleshoots identify, and repair equipment to limit downtime
- Assist with the setup and movement of equipment as required
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment, and facility
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties (provide your own basic tools; we provide annual allowance)
- Communicate effectively with Maintenance Manager, Plant Manager, suppliers, and contractors to determine effective repair practices and schedules
- Follow all current GMP’s and quality specifications of manufacturing in a food facility
- Ensure documentation meets or exceeds mandated requirements
- Determine maintenance priorities and monitor maintenance assignments to ensure quality workmanship and specification compliance.
- Interact with other departments to ensure the proper functioning of all systems in the plant.
- Maintains strict adherence with Worksafe BC regulations, safety programs, and HACCP regulations.
- Performs other duties as required and/or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience performing repairs, preferably in the food industry.
- Red Seal Provincial Certification or Inter-provincial Certification
- Excellent communication skills including English proficiency (verbal and written)
- Consistent commitment to working safely
- Physically fit and able to work in cramped spaces or at heights
- Solid Experience and knowledge of machinery and equipment
- Welding experience considered an asset
- PLC and Control System experience an asset
- Knowledgeable with electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic work
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical equipment and motors
- Ability to use appropriate hand, power and specialty tools and diagnostic equipment to complete job tasks.
- Desire to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritize
- Ability to build rapport quickly with key members of the maintenance team
- Demonstrated ability to react to situations with a strong sense of urgency using a creative and logical approach to resolution
- Forklift certification and/or experience operating a forklift
- Able to work within tight timelines and complete the required tasks
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Enjoys working in a dynamic, yet supportive, team environment
- Capable of working independently and autonomously while at the same time contributes effectively as a member of the team
