Robotic Algometry Inc. is developing robotic systems that automate neuroscience research. Our flagship platform combines precision robotics, computer vision, embedded electronics, and machine learning to perform reproducible behavioral experiments that traditionally require extensive manual work.
Our software controls cameras, motion systems, stimulus hardware, and data acquisition while integrating modern computer vision and AI pipelines. We're looking for a software developer who enjoys building robust systems that bridge software and hardware.
About the Role
You'll work on software that controls real robotic hardware. Depending on your interests and experience, your work may include:
- Developing desktop applications in C++ and Qt
- Building software to communicate with embedded controllers over serial interfaces
- Integrating computer vision pipelines for object detection and tracking
- Optimizing performance for image processing and machine learning inference
- Designing clean, maintainable software architecture
- Developing Python interfaces to C++ libraries
- Working with cameras, sensors, and robotic hardware
- Debugging and improving real-world systems
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving practical engineering problems and seeing software directly control physical devices.
What We're Looking For
We're more interested in strong engineering ability than experience with any specific framework.
Ideal candidates will have experience in several of the following:
- Modern C++ (C++17 or newer)
- Software architecture and object-oriented design
- Multithreaded programming
- Qt (or a willingness to learn)
- Python
- Git and collaborative software development
- Computer vision (OpenCV or similar)
- Embedded systems or microcontrollers
- Serial communication and hardware interfaces
- Linux and/or Windows development
Experience with robotics, machine learning, scientific software, or instrumentation is a bonus, but not required.
