WHAT’S THE TEAM LIKE
The facility maintenance team ensures the smooth operation of all spaces at a busy 24/7 airport, keeping terminals, offices, and other buildings safe, functional, and well-maintained. They handle maintenance repairs, project related work, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems to support airport operations and passenger comfort. This team ensures safe, efficient, and reliable operations, supporting 24/7 airport activities and driving smart building initiatives.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as the primary mechanical point of contact for airport redevelopment projects including terminal construction, infrastructure upgrades and tenant development projects, ensuring mechanical requirements are defined early and integrated across all phases of project delivery
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical submissions to verify alignment with airport standards, codes, and system integration requirements
- Conduct field inspections and monitor construction activities to verify mechanical installations meet approved designs, contract requirements, and safety standards
- Identify, document, and drive resolution of deficiencies, non-compliant work, and system integration issues to maintain project quality and compliance
- Plan and coordinate mechanical system shutdowns and tie-ins to enable construction activities while minimizing disruption to ongoing airport operations
- Support commissioning, testing, and project closeout activities by validating system performance, confirming documentation accuracy, and enabling smooth turnover to operations
- Develop scopes of work, review contractor submissions, and support procurement activities to ensure technical requirements are clearly defined and met
- Collaborate with project teams, contractors, consultants, airlines, and internal stakeholders to coordinate construction sequencing, resolve conflicts, and maintain project progress in an active operating environment
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING

- Minimum post-secondary diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or a related field is required. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
- 4-6 years of hands-on experience in Mechanical construction, building systems, or infrastructure projects delivery is required.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical documents to verify compliance with codes and standards is required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Mechanical systems and construction practices, with the ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and code requirements to assess compliance and support project delivery.
- Strong construction and project coordination knowledge with the ability to assess design risks, manage competing priorities, and support project execution in complex environments
- Sound judgment and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess risks, escalate issues, and support project decisions in a complex environment.
- This role supports airport redevelopment projects within a 24/7 operational environment and participates in a rotational on‑call program to address mechanical issues as may be required, related to project impacts, and/or operational impacted issues requirements outside of regular working hours.
- As this position is considered safety-sensitive, candidates must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as part of the hiring process.
- This role includes driving as part of its duties; therefore, candidates will be required to provide a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a current driver’s abstract as part of the hiring process.
WHAT ADDITIONAL SKILLS ARE AN ASSET
- Professional designation (P.Eng., CET, or equivalent).
- Experience working in a regulated, safety-sensitive environment is considered an asset.
- Experience working in a large-scale, 24/7 facility is an asset.
- Bilingual in English and French
