Position Overview
The Manitoba health system has seven health service delivery organizations (SDOs) across the province to serve the health needs of our population including CancerCare Manitoba, the Northern Regional Health Authority, the Interlake Eastern Regional Health Authority, Southern Health-Santé Sud, Prairie Mountain Health, the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and Shared Health.
We have an opportunity for a Director, Facilities Support Services for the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority who will ensure the efficient and effective delivery of support services covering environmental services, facilities, and maintenance for the service delivery organization.
Reporting to the regional lead corporate services, the facilities support lead will:
Direct facilities support services at all sites and across all services providers with authority over a budget of over $100 million.
Build and manage a customer-centric team that provides operations leadership with timely, reliable, responsive, service and support to achieve its intended outcomes including key performance indicators.
Maintain and apply best practices and information on trends in corporate support services to develop and monitor effective strategies that ensure strategic and operational goal achievement including innovations in service delivery and technology with a focus on quality improvement and patient safety.
Liaise with Shared Health to assist on projects such as capital planning and security projects.
Tracks and reports capital projects to the service delivery organization leadership.
Coordinates planning, testing, and execution of plans for the service delivery organization and act as the lead in cross site incident control within the region and a team member in cross regional incident.
Tracks maintenance on equipment and property to report any trends or anomalies.
This role is critical to the effective functioning of the clinical operations and is there to serve and support the clinical leadership in achievement of health outcomes.
Experience
7 years of progressive management experience leading enterprise-wide corporate services functions in a private or large publicly funded enterprise, preferably in healthcare, including:
3 years of direct experience with the delivery of support service such as nutritional services, laundry, environmental services, facilities, and/or maintenance.
5 years of experience building and leading a high-performing team.
3 years of experience managing in a unionized environment.
Previous experience in health-care planning and delivery is an asset.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
A post-secondary degree is preferred in a related discipline from an accredited educational institution.
Lean Six Sigma certification is an asset.
Facilities management certificate/diploma or certification is an asset.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
Active member in good standing of an associated regulatory body as appropriate.
Qualifications and Skills
Demonstrated senior leadership capabilities. The provincial health system in Manitoba has adopted the LEADS in a Caring Environment framework.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to work at heights, within small spaces and to climb, reach, kneel, and squat to service the facilities.
Must be able to work safely in a typical computerized office environment with frequent meetings at multiple sites throughout the organization, and to lift and carry items of up to approximately 15-23 kg.
Interruptions to respond to questions are common; dedicated and focused time for planning and concentration can be scheduled.
Regular travel throughout the service area requiring a valid Manitoba driver’s license and use of a personal motor vehicle.
This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
