Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Montessori pre school teacher to provide personalized, in-home education for our 2yr old son two days per week., in our home which is located in Ottawa, ( Greely.)
The ideal candidate will foster a nurturing, child-centered learning environment based on Montessori principles, focusing on age-appropriate activities that promote independence, curiosity, and development. This role also includes guiding parents on Montessori techniques to support the child’s learning at home. Sessions will take place in our family home, with one parent always present. This is a part-time position emphasizing educational engagement
Responsibilities
- Plan and facilitate Montessori-based lessons tailored to a 2yr old child, including activities that encourage sensory exploration, practical life skills, language development, fine and gross motor skills, and early cognitive growth.
- Prepare and present materials in a prepared environment within the home, adapting to the child’s interests and developmental stage.
- Observe the child’s progress and adjust activities accordingly to support individualized learning.
- Conduct light tidying up of educational materials and spaces after sessions to maintain an organized environment.
- Share insights and teach parents simple Montessori strategies and skills to reinforce learning during non-session days, such as creating child-friendly setups or encouraging self-directed play.
- Communicate regularly with parents about the child’s development, achievements, and areas for growth.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience as a Montessori teacher or assistant, preferably with toddlers or preschool-aged children.
- Fluency in English for effective communication with the child and parents.
- Commitment to Montessori philosophy, with a focus on respect for the child, observation, and hands-on learning.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with parents in a home setting.
- Reliable transportation (not on bus route)
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in Arabic (helpful for incorporating cultural elements or language exposure, but not required).
- Montessori certification or training from a recognized program.
- Experience in parent education or family coaching within a Montessori framework.
Schedule and Compensation
- Part-time: 2 days per week (specific days flexible based on mutual availability).
- Sessions typically 3 hours each, to be discussed.
- Competitive hourly rate based on experience; details provided during interview.
